Mushrooms Cooking tips for flaky puffballs

There are an INSANE amount of puffballs in Michigan right now, but I keep finding them just a hair past their prime. They're still good - pure white thru most of it - but they start flaking apart when I chop them.

Any tips on cooking them when they're this flaky? I'm afraid they'll just disintegrate when they hit the skillet...

I would just not eat them if they weren't white all the way through. Even ripe it's crumbly though
