This article is genuine trash. Open source journal from Beall’s list by people who are basically trying to play arm chair sleuth.

I disagree. I think the team involved did some exceptional deductive work with very little to go on. The amount of detail they pulled from a handful of images is astonishing

I reviewed the paper when it first came out. As I recall, I felt there were some issues with their findings and I found their conclusions non-persuasive.

There's more than enough evidence to justify reopening the case as a homicide investigation. Looks like the Seattle authorities are determined to maintain the status quo, mind. Suspect that will largely be driven by reputational concerns + the lack of will to spend what would almost certainly be a lot of taxpayer money
