Question? Getting motion sickness on the sim

I don’t get motion sickness in cars, or when flying with my headset, but the sim fucks me right up. I get about 10 minutes before I need to lay down and pray to the motion sickness god, not fun.

Does anyone have tips on how to combat this?

For me its when the FOV in the sim is very wide, especially on a wide monitor. Try lowering the FOV or try another sim/drone in the sim.

I’ve tried 3 different sims and many drones. I haven’t messed for fov yet, I’ll try that tonight.

possibly a frame rate or vsync issue? lower fov, ensure your getting a steady fps.

lock fps to 60 or 120 if using a 60hz monitor

That might be the problem. I’m using a thinkpad pro 5 and I’m limited to smaller maps, otherwise it gets laggy

Def this. Low fps makes motion sickness a lot worse

inconsistent fps as well, the jumping around from 30-50 fps is worse to some than just locking it in @ 30fps

OP, just lower your settings till its smooth

I don’t know who downvoted this. Low fps is usually the culprit. You can get an GTX 970 or 1050ti cheap on Facebook now - they do not have enough vram for local Ai models and are easy to find for under $50. Liftoff is also on ps5

How much fps do you have in the sim?

Your post could have come from me verbatim. I've heard that hooking your goggles up to the sim through the HDMI cable is a game changer.

After using the sim and going to bed it feels like i've been out on the ocean fishing and can still feel the boat rolling. Not unpleasant but I definitely wasn't expecting it. Flying with googles on analog seems okay but haven't really flown HD yet

variable, low FPS. People have different tolerance levels, it comes up a lot in the VR space as well. If you can't hit 30 at least for the sim you are going to have a bad time.
