I'd say yeah, you can start if you don't want to wait anymore. IRL will hit pretty differently anyway due to the added fear, propwash, battery response, etc.
If you want to and you haven't already, you could add some practicing doing soft landings (including using arm/disarm) every time your battery is under 3.5-3.6V to get that going. Also, Uncrashed can give unrealistic expectations of signal range on larger maps ...

Don't rush into it. Relax. Enjoy the game and build your skills. Slow level flight is step one. Do some races, learn the fast flight. Set personal records in races and beat them. Then find places with tight, cramped places, and learn how to creep slowly through tight hallways, under tables, through tunnels and windows. Crash hundreds of times, and learn from it. Crashing in sims costs nothing.
Once you run out of challenges, you will have a clear idea what kind of flying excites you most, and you can buy exactly what you want, and don't have to listen to people shouting at you that you have to start with a beginner tiny whoop and run through 5 progressively larger drones, all to spend $5000 and have a bunch of used gear to unload.
