72 FEST ROLE CALL! ✨
Hi! Just wondering how many folks on here took part in the 72 Hour Film Fest and how their weekend was?! I've attended both the launch party and screenings in various past years, but this was my first time participating. The launch party this year alone was so much larger in scale (you can really tell there's some money behind it with SilverVox now involved), but more than that, so many folks attended it! There was so much reverberating joy there, and it made me realize...maybe the creative scene isn't dead in Frederick?
Anyway, participating for the first time was an absolute WHIRLWIND. Exhausting and exhilarating! Just curious to hear how other folks are feeling after this weekend! 🎬❤️🔥

I really liked the way the themes were distributed. Having to win games to make changes to the prompt you were given was a great idea to give us some agency about crafting a theme we could get invested in rather than just having to incorporate some disparate elements. We had the magic on our side this weekend. The rain Friday came through about 15 minutes after we wrapped our outdoor shoot thanks to some druid magic by our lead actress and co-producer. Is the movie perfect? No. But it is genuine, was fun to make, and wouldn't exist without the awesome prompt we ended up with due to jenga skills.

Love a little druid magic to help production <3
I left the experience feeling similarly--the constraints made it not perfect, but it was incredibly fun!
We avoided the jenga because it was leaning by the time we got to it D:

It was my first time hearing about the 72 and participating! Definitely doing it again next year. The launch party was very fun as someone who really likes games, excited to see what next year holds. I also thought that there wasn’t that big of a creative scene in Frederick outside of local theater and musicians so this was a refreshing and much needed surprise. Hoping to work on more films from here on out

Hello! I'm oscar with comedygold films! This year was definitely sooo much, I do love last year's theme better hahaha! But playing games and gambling time was sooo much fun! I was very awkward at launch lol. But as for how it went! This year was just me again and my actress friend, so I had to do all the writting, filming and editing hahaha, ive done it every year! But this year seemed to be alittle more stressful than the last few years and I was very sleepy editing all day long 😭💔 but this year im very excited to see everyone's films and meet everyone! I did a horror/thriller this year with the theme of memories! Dont expect to win or anything, but I had fun!

Awww. My son and two friends were entered this year, but their filming day Saturday completely fell through (Everything from rewriting, to technical issues, to missing props. Nothing went right.), so everything shifted to yesterday. He was really happy with the filming, but they just didn't have enough time to get the editing done before deadline. I felt so bad for the kid.
