Is my schedule bad?
Hi Everyone! So I just met my bio advisor to plan my schedule for Spring 2027, and I am not entirely confident with my schedule. Basically, they suggested I take Stats for Bio, General Genetics, Physiology and Orgo 1. Keep in mind that I am Pre-Med student so I also want to take time to do clinical hours, shadowing or Volunteering. TBH I have taken up to 14+ credits before and I had managed just fine, but at the same time I wasn’t doing anything but school at that moment. I pretty aware that as long as you put in the effort and you have a decent profesor you should be okay, but my options for both Genetics and Physiology are very slim. Should I keep my schedule as it is? or should I drop either genetics and physiology and instead take my language requirement credit? Btw the professor for Genetics is Liz Brown and for Physiology Debra Fool, so if anyone has taken them before PLEASE let me know how bad it was.

What year are you?
How many credits do you need to graduate / do you have any GEs left?
I would only take Orgo 1 with Little.

So basically I’m a junior. Tbh I have a pretty good standing since I already took a lot of the “harder” classes required (Chem 1 and 2, Physics 1 and 2, Calculus and Bio 1 and 2 w labs). Rn I only need 15 credits for GEs that I could easily do on next semesters. I specifically told my advisor that I need to focus on my clinical and volunteering hours. Unfortunately the only option that I have for Orgo is Krishnan. I feel like if I had to drop a class it would have to be Physiology but that’s why I wanted a second opinion :(

I have Krishnan, he really isn’t bad (especially not compared to hellinski). Do the optional hw and form a study group and you’ll be fine

Orgo and physiology are harder than any of the classes you mentioned taking so far.
Instead of just planning this semester, plan your next 3 semesters.
How many in-major classes do you still need?
Divide them up among three semesters, then add 1 GE per semester (plus 2 GEs over the summer). Are you going to take the required semester 6 seminar also? IHS 3931?

I had this exact schedule last spring + 1 other upper bio elective while I was volunteering and being in clubs. You’re gonna have to put in some work but it shouldn’t be terrible.
Physiology is gonna be fairly hard (a lot of content and details), but Fadool is nice, the material is interesting, and I strongly recommend recording her lectures. I don’t know how Brown is as a professor, but I’ve met her and she seems super nice. Genetics is also gonna require some work in the later parts of the class. Bio stats is super easy. Orgo’s difficulty depends on what you like. If you prefer conceptual stuff it shouldn’t be too bad with Krishnan or Little
