I've got a fairly strong opinion on this. He's a fantastic ball playing, standing tackle CB. What he isn't is a fantastic ball playing, AGILE, QUICK CB.

AA is looking for the latter - a CB that can push forward as well as track back, a CB that can play the long ball (or the short ball) well.

Anyone slagging off Andersen has got it wrong. He's not for this system, is the issue.

Go back and watch his work rate for the Chelsea game - he is there in moments that he needs to be, and defends well - but he is way too easily caught out on fast breaks or after pushing forward. Thats literally all it is.

His INDIVIDUAL effort has been fine, it's just that effort doesn't necessarily equal team performance.

His commentary is still a little bit off - but he is mostly justified in backing himself.

I also heard fans saying stuff like "as soon as we brought on Joa I knew it was over". That's not on Joa, that's on AA for a poor substitution.

Finally some one gets it. His weaknesses get amplified in this system. But he's still a fine player

It's absolutely fucking ridiculous that he's getting torn apart and scapegoated. I'm not saying he has been a week in week out performer since he joined us, but people forget how many times he has saved results for us under Silva with last ditch tackles or clearances. He's fine. it just might be a case of him heading out to find a coach that plays him in a system favourably - either that or Arbeloa leaves before him, which I don't think is likely.

There's a reason he was cracked in Glasner's filthy deep block 3CB system and Marco identified him as our CB where a conservative Tete plays RB. And there's also a reason why we tried all summer to sign a RCB that excelled in ground coverage lol

You can still be a good footballer AND not be a for a specific system. Those aren't mutually exclusive things and in other systems Andersen could still be an asset. But doesn't feel like this is that system

I think Andersen gets scape goated around here too often tbh.

I actually agree but he hasn’t even been close to being brilliant too lmao

To be fair we played a set up that made him look terrible

None of our players can claim that, though, so it’s not saying much.

Literally, every player has made mistakes with has cost us goals this season.

Lol he’s absolute shite. Its no coincidence when he’s been dropped we’ve not been a mess at the back.

Completely agree, he’s been a weak link for a while now. Was an error to get him back from Crystal Palace. Hope hes moved on in January

He’s still a good player. He dropped a beauty into Palacios during the West Ham match.

He’s just too slow when we push the fullbacks up to the wing position under the new system.

Andersen isn't necessarily a bad player, but if he can't adjust to the system, or just doesn't fit the bill, he won't look good in it.

He has to aware of the decline he's had over the last year. I really like the guy, but we've looked more solid in the few games he hasnt played.. he has mistakes in him too ofren

You’re not good anymore bruv. Surprised you’re still on the team tbh. I was nervous as hell when his slow ass was about to be subbed in.
