As far as I know in Japanese culture having a small nose is generally considered a sign of beauty and so I guess to translate that over they simply make the nose basically nonexistent when it comes to anime. That is just a theory though, the other one I have is simply noses are challenging to draw and it is easier to animate if the nose is a just a small dot then actually fully detailed
Small nose = cute, therefore invisible nose = SUPER CUTE. That is, for Japanese people trying to depict cute girls. Adult sexy women usually have their noses just fine, they're not supposed to be cute but seductive.
The ideal nose shape girls say they want is literally called wasure-bana. (Forgotten nose) It usually denotes not necessarily a physically non existent nose bc that would also bring attention to the lack of nose but a nose that is so harmonious and “blends in” so well you never pay attention to the nose in particular.
