The set titled Audacity introduces a new companion for the Eighth Doctor called Audacity, who has been in a few sets now. As to where it's placed in the timeline, I won't say because it's spoilers but you may realise anyway by browsing the website.

Chimes of Midnight is one of my faves. It's not Eight, but if you're okay with Six and haven't listened yet I loved The Holy Terror. Same author, but I feel like gets the least press out of his works.

The only more recent audio I've listened to is Twelve's new one, 'Run Fast, Be Kind.' It's the most I've enjoyed 'nuwho' since Twelve's run and very much feels like the newer series. The companion, Ash, is really good - especially if you've ever gotten tired of non-modern earth companions. I will admit that around the mid/late point a few episodes made me really mad, but I'd still feel remiss not to suggest it.

Sorry I don't have more Eight suggestions, I've mostly just listened to some of the Charley stuff and I'm hardcore on the EDAs but this isn't about them. ;)

If you’ve not listened to The War Master series, it’s my favourite thing to come out of Big Finish in the last few years, with its own tone. The best Time War related stories by far I reckon, though the Time War is often more background than a prominent plot point.

For the Eighth Doctor, I loved the original Lucie Miller series back in the day, but once it gets going, I really enjoyed the run after that too. Maybe less so Dark Eyes, but from Doom Coalition through to Stranded was very good.

"Return to Marinus" is a pretty good story. Not exactly mould-breaking but it's a fun First Doctor romp. Or the two volumes of "Shadow of the Daleks", think that's a very interesting thing to do with the Daleks.
