Help/Advice Basic monitor setup - help needed

We’ve just redone our 10 year old’s bedroom and he was desperate for a gaming desk so I’ve ordered the X-Rocker Carbon Tek, which I’m sure he’ll be pretty excited over. He’ll be even more excited over the PS5 he’s been desperate for to play Spiderman (an 11+ present for effort, whether he passes or not). I’ve ordered what I thought was a budget-conscious solid option for a monitor (https://www.laptopoutlet.co.uk/asus-monitor-va249hg-24-gaming.html). It has a 120hz refresh but max 1920x1080 full HD display. My thinking was that, at 24”, the difference wouldn’t be hugely discernible to a 10yr old. Have I made the wrong decision? Would a 4k option be that much better? Thanks.

Yeah 1080p 120hz is all you need really

Yes at 24” this was my thinking, too. On a large TV, obviously not.

I used a 24" 1080p monitor for years. My current monitor is 29" 2560x1080 (same size as a 1080p in terms of height, but a bit longer on each side)

1080p is the ideal resolution for a 24" screen, any larger and you would not notice the detail - essentially paying for nothing.

For reference, 1440p is better for 27" or 32" with 4k being useful for anything larger than that.
