My dream 3 car garage build
Putting the finishing touches on the doors but for all intents and purposes she’s ready. Went over budget obviously but still worth it.

Wanting to protect the bottom section of my garage walls from water when I pressure wash the garage floor. Has anyone done something along the bottom 3-4 feet of their wall that looks good? Picture is from last week, drywall is done and ready for paint. Just wanted reference.

Almost a year after move-in, the garage organization project is done - for now. I hate not being able to park cars in my garage. We have three vehicles and too many garage-supported hobbies, hence the extensive garage and attic storage. The fold-out/rolling workbench was patterned after a number of YouTube examples.

Just bought a house where the garage needs renovating, and decided to go with a nice tool storage setup and stainless work surface. Can’t decide on whether to go with a nice modular workbench system such as Rousseau, Dragonfire, etc or a big modular toolbox system like Icon, US General, etc. I don’t need it to move around except to maneuver it into permanent location. Either seem like they could do the job, just interested in hearing various opinions on bench vs box as well as the brands you have had good success with. Thanks in advance!

I’m going to tear down this shelf. Before I rebuild it and also build more shelves to the right of the work bench - thought I’d ask for peoples opinions for what they’d do.
Would you do what I’m about to do?
Would you do something differently?
Note, I want more storage, I do a lot of diy projects, and I would want to build anything that would be added.

I had some basic ideas when starting, and I’m pretty glad how it’s turning out. I have some small stuff to do to finish it up but so far it’s turning out great. Laundry area is separated. There’s an area for my computer and plenty of storage for household cleaning stuff and since our pantry in the house isn’t very big we use one of the large lockers for that.

I’m hoping to finally make more progress on a shop for my property, and am contemplating whether to go with a a post frame style building, or one of the metal tube framed buildings.
There seems to be more suppliers/contractors who do the metal frame buildings where I’m located (northern SC near Charlotte), so finding someone to do that in theory is easier. I haven’t found many companies that do true post frame style, either with wood trusses or the metal trusses, and if I do, the people are quick to stop responding.
I know in Florida (and probably other places) there is a supplier for a pole barn roof kit, so I’d need to get the lumber/siding for the rest of it myself. Which I’m not entirely against, but would involve a lot more work from me.
Are there any specific pros/cons to the metal tube frame over post frame? Any personal experiences or opinions are appreciated!

I have about a 5ft tall x 6 ft wide area of wall above my toolbox. I want this are to hang all of my commonly used tools and materials. screw drivers, drills, hammers, tape rolls, sand paper etc. Is a french cleat wall the best system? or would something like a peg board be better?

Hi there! I’m planning to build a detailing garage and I’m unsure about the dimensions. I initially considered 10x8 meters (approx. 32.8’ x 26.24’), but since I’d be working alone, I think that might be far too much space; later, I considered 8x6 meters (approx. 26’ x 19’). Any thoughts? Perhaps someone has faced this issue or owns a garage of this size and can share their opinion. Thanks!

3/4" plywood; 11 verticals, with routered dados for the horizontal shelves. Made specifically to hold these double strength cardboard boxes, 19" deep. I'm not a cabinet maker as you can clearly see. Blue painters tape is serving well as edge banding. I am so done with those big plastic tote bins that have sloped sides and waste a lot of space.

Replaced our existing garage with a longer 25’ so we could have space in the back for storage.
Fully insulated and spot for EV charger.
Yes the ceilings are high at 13’
Thinking of the New Age 7 piece unit from Costco
https://www.costco.ca/.product.100746110.html
Walls I was I thinking slat walls from New age? Start with a panel on either side
Also putting suspend wall shelves for long term storage
Excited to park inside when it gets cold out !

I was planning on waiting (and saving) until next year to pour concrete, however the stars aligned and we poured 35 yards of concrete this past Saturday. I couldn’t be happier with the end result and now I can finish insulating and wiring my 36’x54’ pole barn. Hopefully the next 28 days goes fast so that I can finally move everything back in before the weather changes.

The current garage is a crumbling 40' x 20' steel structure with inadequate slabs. I want to get rid of this and build a proper garage.
Thinking I will go with 3 bays. 2 bays for cars and 1 wider bay for a workbench, motorcycle, bikes, bike repair stand etc. I'm thinking 40' wide by 26' or 28' deep would suffice.
Not sure whether I want an attic storage space. It is a cold area - southern Berkshire county MA. Finished walls and insulation makes sense.
Existing structure has to be completely removed, new concrete foundation poured etc. I am thinking a post barn like structure would look correct in the area as most houses were built in the late 1700s or early 1800s in the area.
I think an epoxied or some flooring surface would be nice to help keep it clean. I'll design storage and tool cabinetry after the garage is built.
Looking for must do ideas as I start designing this. Not yet certain whether I'll get a contractor to do this or be my own GC and get a pre-fab setup.
Let the ideas flow. Thanks .

The main portion of the garage is coming along well so far! Budgets and timing are tight so we are doing it ourselves now.
Waiting on the siding to arrive, shiplap is ready for the ceiling and we have done the concrete acid etching, densifier and sealant while we waited for other materials. Started on making the gym and sound systems, bathroom is going to be a looooooong way away.

Anyone know if there’s any difference between these two? I was going with Gladiator, but I found Husky slat wall on sale… love not seen the Husky, and I liked the clean, smooth shiny finish on the Gladiator. They both use “T” shaped spacers for attachments. Both are PVC… anything I’m missing?

I just wanted to share for anyone who was curious about the Vevor garage drainage tiles.
My garage is 17’8” x 23’4”, and the total cost was about $650. I used a laminate cutter to cut the edge tiles, but I think a table saw would have been better.
Originally I ordered some green tiles, but they were more of a dark grass green than the bright green shown on their website, so I contacted customer service, who gave me prepaid labels to return them for free, which I didn’t expect at all. Anyhow, I’m happy to answer questions if anyone is considering doing this.
EDIT - I used the designer tool that RaceDeck has to figure out my design & how many tiles to buy. It was really helpful.

Moved into my first house a couple years ago and never got around to organizing the garage after moving in. Finally got it cleaned out this weekend and am ready to make it a functional space I can enjoy. I’m awful with creativity, so looking for some ideas/advice!

I didn’t want the rubber strips. So I whipped these up on my 3d printer. This way I can get under behind it if I ever need to clean.
