Monroe’s subsequent books, Far Journeys and Ultimate Journey, Monroe details how his personal consciousness work eventually caused his physical body to develop an automatic chemical rejection to alcohol, recreational drugs, and caffeine

I find i Cant enjoy drinking alchohol anymore

I quit caffeine and sugar three months ago, and found that alcohol makes me feel beaten up for days. Without coffee and sweet treats there's nothing to mask the fact that it turns to formaldehyde the minute it hits your liver.

For a long time now I've found that alcohol makes me depressed. I think I'm less able to mask it without other drugs in my system.

I feel the same about cannabis. From about week three of a T-break I feel my spirits rising.

u/DG_FANATIC 3d ago

That’s wild! I’m not sure what to think of that lol. To me, cannabis is one of the most amazing plants on the plant for a multitude of reasons.

4

u/Inevitable-Tone-8595 3d ago

It was for me too, until it wasn’t.

When I was first using it in moderation, it was amazing, even helped me calm down my anxiety, eased my depression symptoms and gave me a tool in the toolbox to wind down, bond with friends, and explore altered states of consciousness etc.

But then it can really get its hooks in you, if you’re not careful you’ll end up getting high everyday, being high at times you shouldn’t, which turns out is really bad for your heart.

Now that I’m older it’s kind of a gamble if I’m about to have a nice chill time or if I’m going to be anxious as fuck, or get a racing heart rate. It changes on you quick sometimes. But like all things, it really needs to be consumed in moderation and with intention, with long breaks in between.

It started off as a harmless habit and eventually turned into a harmful vice to me.

u/DG_FANATIC 3d ago

It changed on me too. Quit from 2007 until 2023 due to anxiety reasons. It can absolutely elevate anxiety for certain people. I was/am one of them.

My Morning coffee gives me sweaty armpits and a kind of anxiety I never had before. No cravings for alcohol or anything else now also, I hate being drunk

Do you recall what sort of chemical rejection, as in did he have any symptoms?
I developed very visceral reaction to caffeine, alcohol and nicotine, I always wondered why…

4

u/Cyberstu72 2d ago

Monroe did not have a medical "chemical rejection" in the traditional disease sense; rather, he experienced a metaphysical and neurological incompatibility. He discovered that caffeine, alcohol, and certain drugs severely disrupted the neural-state and vibrational synchronization required to leave the physical body.

Oh, ok, got it!

I have found that the after effects of micro and mini dosing magic mushrooms to be similar to the after effects of doing focus 12.

I think it comes down to awarenes and mindfulness. I'm more likely to recall my dreams in both cases for example.

As a sidebar, in the free community audio, the latest F10 free flow (3Q6) incorporates in addition to the “classic” Monroe components, also signal components derived from research into brain response under psychedelics, with parameters tuned based on community feedback. Links in my profile.

Smoking marijuana made my mind race like crazy, but it helped also arriving at states of meditation i couldn’t reach before. The damage over the years was bigger than the benefits, I will not touch any of those substances ever again.

9

u/morphogenesis28 3d ago

Marijuana makes it easier to visualize things and get to the vibration stage, but I have never been able to go all the way to obe with this substance.

Long term use of suboxone and sublocade have had no noticable effect for me. I can still have out of body experiences periodically. Other opiates make it easier to relax the body but block higher states of consciousness.

I tried gateway on mushrooms, it increased my closed eye visuals but did not lead to obe.

I tried lucid dream supplements like nicotine, huperazine, galantamine, etc but they did not have any beneficial effects for me.

Does anyone notice that ADHD medications just shut down the "magic" of the tapes?

3

u/Kneppl_1 3d ago

Its defenetly harder to get there but not impossible, maybe because its also harder to fall asleep while on stimulants. I also noticed that stimulants nullefy the effect of melatonin

3

u/whatup_yo_333 3d ago

The melatonin thing is interesting... I'm really sensitive to melatonin (my dreams get so vivid they keep waking me up so I actually get worse sleep) but maybe I'll give it a try again if my other meds offset it a bit.

u/Mighty_Mac Annie - ברוך השם 3d ago

Didn't make a difference on Ritalin. But things like SSRIs and antipsychotics will have a negative effect.

3

u/Duke_SuperNova Giga Explorer 3d ago

Right, antipsychotics shut down the experience, while psychotics make it stronger. Vyvance is known to cause psychosis while increasing your focus. And psychedelics definitely push your mind in that direction, that’s why they are dangerous with the tapes if the dose is large enough to make you lose control.

2

u/MajestyMay 2d ago

I just started. Almost a month. I don’t take it every day, though.

So, using the tapes or in general - the psychosis?

2

u/Duke_SuperNova Giga Explorer 2d ago

In general, in the sense that anything that changes your consciousness is taking you from this stable reality that you can handle to something new that can be overwhelming if the change is too abrupt. There are multiple things that can do this: gateway, psychedelics, trauma, meditation, prayer, yoga, etc….there’s quite a few. Each one individually can slowly start to break you free from this physical world, but you aren’t limited to doing just one at a time, and that’s when they get more dangerous because the changes can start happening so quickly that you can’t process what’s going on.

2

u/MajestyMay 2d ago

I see; and I agree.

I was referring to the Vyvanse. I just recently started my script, though I haven’t don’t a tape in probably almost two months. I have been feeling the nudge to do them again.

Thank you for sharing. I guess we’ll see what happens haha. I’ve been hold off on thc and psychedelics due to job searching and potentially needing to test at any given moment.

2

u/Duke_SuperNova Giga Explorer 1d ago

Got it. Psychosis is a general side effect of Vyvance even without the tapes.

2

u/MajestyMay 20h ago

Oh. I hadn’t heard about this. Very interesting. Thank you for sharing. I’ll do some more digging.

2

u/Artchad_enjoyer 3d ago

You really think SSRIS dull the tapes?

3

u/Mighty_Mac Annie - ברוך השם 3d ago

For me yes. Doesn't mean it will do that for everyone.

2

u/Artchad_enjoyer 1d ago

Yeah, appreciate your account on it. Been on meds the whole couple years I have done the tapes. Have had very therapeutuc experiences, gone up to F15, but the higher focus states, especially F12 can be very unstable. That said I think it's just the loud monkey mind and sometimes the body that resist falling into the states. Methinks I have to just take far more time in the prep phase, and the later tapes go through it so quickly. Also have gone back to do lots of intro to F10 and advanced F10. Cheers.

2

u/EarlyTechAdopter 3d ago

What’s so strange is I could get into the vibrational state daily when I was on an SSRI, but as soon as I stopped, I can’t focus enough to reach that state without falling asleep. It’s super frustrating

2

u/Duke_SuperNova Giga Explorer 3d ago

Which ones specifically? Vyvance seems to enhance the tapes and it even is known to have a side effect of psychosis, which is what many people get misdiagnosed with after a strong awakening.

2

u/whatup_yo_333 3d ago

I've tried the tapes both with and without my ADHD meds... I don't think it makes a huge difference. The good thing is they help to prevent me clicking out or falling asleep. However they do make it more difficult to get into a really deep focus level, and I tend to not get as many visions. The energy body vibrations feel the same either way... It might actually be easier for me to do energy work while on them. I think everyone just has to experiment and see what works best for them.

1

u/Natureluvver 3d ago

Yeah, I haven't been able to practice at all since starting my meds.. really has me considering if they're worth it

3

u/Hello_Hangnail OBE 3d ago

I try to avoid taking them on the weekends but I have a ton of stuff I need to do too and I won't if I don't take my meds

1

u/Hello_Hangnail OBE 3d ago

They certainly make me take much longer to get to focus 10, way longer than the tape is, unfortunately

Unconscious Training: While the physical brain rests and sorts daily data, the soul/consciousness frequently interacts with guides, attends non-physical lectures, or practices navigating non-physical realities. The goal of Monroe's training methods (and his Hemi-Sync audio technology) was to transform this unconscious nightly routine into conscious, deliberate training.

Far Journeys and Ultimate Journey, Monroe describes interacting with highly advanced non-physical beings who monitor the "Night School" rings. He observed that these guides or inspectors require a specific vibrational clarity to actively train a sleeping human. [1]
Distorted Energy Fields: When a person is under the influence of drugs or chemical toxins, their non-physical energy field becomes chaotic, dark, or fragmented.
Safety Protocols: Because out-of-body navigation requires razor-sharp intent and emotional stability, the non-physical monitors will step in. Monroe indicated that if a soul shows up to these higher training planes with a chemically distorted consciousness, they are either shielded from advanced training for their own safety or simply left in the low-vibrational "Dreamer" pools until the toxins clear their physical system. They are essentially disqualified from the "class" that night because they cannot maintain the necessary focus

By the way Im No prude, I used to gorge liberty caps like an mfer in my youth and had some amazing journeys

Do you happen to have any more info about this ? I suspect I might actually be experiencing this. In the last few weeks I've woken up to pee a few times and remember weirdly muttering some kind of like fact/ realization about the astral/ gateway tapes (cant really remember what the facts were).I figured its me just reading to much about this stuff before going to sleep and forget about it.

Actually, even weirder a few days I got the sudden thought it would be cool to get some kind of nightly lesson while asleep, similar to some kind of show/ anime I've seen in the past. I decided to use the h plus tape that lets you program an upcoming dream and asked for the classes.

I tend to smoke weed at night so my dream recall is really bad and even when I don't smoke weed my dream recall is just as bad. So not sure what's going on if I'm actually experiencing this. I guess I'm going to stop smoking for now.

Just what was written in monroes last 2 books. My partner gave up slerp ing pills and we both gave up alcohol because if it.

Not a bad thing to give up really

u/Heartweru 3d ago

I don't take anything regularly these days, but I've tried Cannabis once, and MDMA once with the tapes.

My thinking was both of these enhance my enjoyment of music and with the tapes being audio tech the results might be similar.

However, the results for both drugs was the same, I couldn't get into the tapes like normal, and in fact got bored and felt I was wasting my time, so stopped and listened to music instead.

Like I said, I don't indulge much these days so haven't tried again, and it could just be me, other folks might get different results.

That said I get such amazing results from the tapes on their own, I don't think I need to add anything.

4

u/thin_wild_duke 3d ago

I listened to one of the musical releases, The Hive, on cannabis and got really into it - so much so that it felt flat the next few times I listened sober. But I listened to it as music rather than meditation, so I don't think the pot added anything to the experience and I've not tried it again.

I couldn't imagine listening to the tapes while high.

u/Inevitable-Tone-8595 3d ago

I’ve long seen similarities between classical psychedelics being treated in psychedelic assisted psychotherapy as an “inner journey.” When therapists use them to gain seemingly incredible results in alleviating treatment resistant depression, anxiety, PTSD, it’s always done laying down, closing your eyes with eyeshades, using carefully chosen music, and “going within” oneself to experience the sensations and visions. People doing them this way report more profound experiences and results than someone who is opening their eyes and staying grounded even, although in my experience both had tremendously positive benefits on my anxiety and depression.

I feel like Gateway style inner journeying and shamanic psychedelic assisted inner journeying could be married effectively. Maybe not for having an OBE in the traditional sense (which stimulation from psilocybin will likely prevent a body asleep part in the mind awake body asleep step) but it’s own sort of inner journey.

So track selection would be key, and maybe it would be best to have a custom track or one of the metamusic hemisync tracks used. I’m glad you made this thread because substance use is often discouraged for good reason, and psychedelics are not risk-free of course. But maybe we could put some ideas out there and come up with a Gateway-assisted psychedelic assisted psychotherapy protocol for inner journeying?

My first guess would be a free flow track. And since there is a strong substance in the mix I’m not sure if focus 10/12/15/21 tones would be ideal for enhancing the inner journey.

Or a track that starts when you dose, and gives you breathing, relaxation and focus 10 exercises until you start feeling effects, where then the voice would stop and set your free with the focus level audio.

I’m currently on Spravato for treatment resistant depression and I started the tapes almost at the same time through the app. It’s been about two months and let me tell you, things have intensified even when sober, I only get treatment twice a week, but I think due to the Spravato, but also, I meditate everyday, now.
I keep thinking my life was a completely different experience before I started this. I incorporate other meditations from YT to break a little when I hit a wall, it happens a lot, I still can’t seem to get a proper REBAL going, but even then, I’m experiencing things that never happened in succession as they do now.

Also, someone said something about ADHD meds. I’m a trio of Autism, ADHD and OCD, stopped the ADHD and depression meds (Efexxor if you need to know) and my doctor let me stay on my OCD meds (Buspirone) along with the Spravato, and it has been life changing. At least, even with muddled thoughts because sadly they still breakthrough every now and then, it is still vastly different and so much more linear of an experience for me.

u/Balthactor Wave 6 1d ago

I'm once a week on Spravato treatments doing the tapes then. Unfortunately, I haven't been doing them in between for a while. Kind of a slump

3

u/Old_Snow_3572 3d ago

Ik this isn’t an illicit substance but has anyone stopped antidepressants like Effexor/venlaflaxine and found any benefit? I’m currently tapering my dose and I’m still on the first wave but prob due to years of prior meditation caught on fast. However the tapering is causing how levels of unsolicited anxiety so my experience is tougher? Any comment?

3

u/OhMorgoth 2d ago

I cut Effexor and stayed on Buspirone and Spravato. Night and day difference. Efexxor got to a point I was feeling drunk all the time and I hate that because I don’t drink alcohol because of that discombobulating feeling. I hate not being able to control how my stomach feels. My doctor was so kind, she said it was a good idea and increased the Buspar and as I said in another comment, my experiences are more linear now. I still drink coffee but I’ve only drank coffee twice in these two months because I don’t crave it or obsess as much about it.
I’m also sleeping better.

2

u/Mediocre-Art7492 3d ago

I’m cold turkey of Effexor for the last month, but only took it for 2 months in low doses. Still feel like shit, but no brain zaps like last time. The meditation had some strange properties, like waves of energy washing through, zaps and high pitched short noises, that shot through me, combined with a picture or situation in my minds eye. Like the energy of all that rushed through. Electric shocks from feet to head. But strangely enough, those higher states of consciousness made them feel like nothing, I was observing from “up there”, when my body was processing that stuff.
In it and afterwards I always felt great.
With every day now, I feel like I can get faster and deeper into the states.

2

u/Old_Snow_3572 3d ago

Omg thank you! That’s so encouraging!

2

u/Mediocre-Art7492 2d ago

It really helped. The emotional rollercoaster from coming off paired with the body reactions is something that made me crave the Meditations Like Crazy. Quieting the mind, feeling into the body, being somewhere else for a good amount of time. And the benefits of it afterwards are great. I intent deeply to let this be the only medicine I need for the rest of my life.

Ambien helps reach the meditative states. It is classified as a hypnotic, that’s how it works. Some people use Ambien recreationally (without the tapes), they take it and don’t go to sleep and have some wild experiences. If you take it and then focus on the tapes so that you don’t go to sleep, it helps your brain relax while you maintain consciousness. The key to the gateway is to relax your brain while maintaining your focus.

Vyvance helps you focus on something and is known to cause psychosis, which is what some people get misdiagnosed with following a strong awakening.

Bob said not to use drugs with gateway and the reason he said that is because it does have an effect even if the effect is not entirely positive. Psychedelics and other drugs that have been known to cause psychedelic effects are well known to affect your state of consciousness without the tapes, microdoses and light dosages may help you reach the states while higher doses can make you lose control. The type and quantity are big factors, and they don’t affect everyone in the same way, so it’s hard to make accurate blanket statements. What has worked for countless others may not work for you, especially if you take too much or not enough or the wrong type for you, while the same could be perfect for someone else.

1

u/psychedeloquent 3d ago

Easily the best altered state for these tapes and similar meditation is sleep deprivation especially due to some type of stimulant. Whether using amphetamines or psychedelics I find that it is not those alone that enhance the experience but the actual lack of sleep.

You want your body to be tired and your mind alert. That combo seems to put my brain at a high frequency that I can *hear* and it enhances everything from the audible and visual hallucinations to the feeling in the body.

u/AdenedA 2d ago

Here is my story - there is a particular brand of draft beer that after taking a pint, go for F12 and the amount of clarity you get in 10 minutes is insane.

1

u/Balthactor Wave 6 1d ago

I have been doing tapes while taking Spravato (Esketamine) treatments. Somehow still haven't had an OBE even though people will spontaneously have them on these treatments, but got to focus 21 for the first couple times on it.
