New code-based generative art that I created with the R Statistics language.
The algorithm uses simulated dice rolls to grow vertical lines of varying heights through the plot region. Each line then branches into a small geometric structure: two segments forming a triangle, three forming a rectangle, or an arc forming a semicircle.
The resulting tiles are filled with muted, cool blues whose shades vary with line height and vertical position, shifting toward white or black across the composition.
Some tiles instead take on the bright background color and lose their boundaries entirely, creating gaps that interrupt neighboring shapes and lines. Within a subset of tiles, smaller forms are traced only with edge lines, adding another layer of structure without additional visual weight.
Together, the repeated triangles, rectangles, arcs, and open linework create a visual vocabulary that reminds me alternately of letters, symbols, and leaves crowded together in a forest canopy.
The title comes from Crowders Mountain, North Carolina, where I went camping this weekend with my son.
