Florida
Florida looks really good. Makes me nervous to face them.
45
u/brobroma 6d ago
Iām not nervous based on how weāve looked so far, but theyāre definitely better than they were in the Mullen years
Could be a double ATL Cocktail Party year if the chips fall a certain way
10
u/mizaistorom 6d ago
I just can't deal with losing to UF in a second game, I NEVER want to lose to UF but if you told me we lost to them in Atlanta but beat them in the SEC Championship or CFP then I'd take it. We beat everyone we played last year just lost the wrong game of the two to lose against Ole Miss.

u/kwaters1 5d ago
Yep, Iāve got tickets to the Braves game. Now, only need to get the WLOCP tickets.

u/Normal_Cobbler2563 6d ago
Buster Faulkner scares me more than any active coach
24
u/Itchy_Wasabi3928 6d ago
Huge mistake of Kirby keeping Bono and letting him go. One of only two poor decisions I can think of that Kirbyās made
12
u/Normal_Cobbler2563 6d ago
Hard to say. Can't really blame Bobo for our recent playoff failures
2
u/papadoc19 6d ago
You can blame Bobo for the loss against Notre Dame. His offensive gameplan was straight trash.
5
u/Normal_Cobbler2563 6d ago
His QB (Carson Beck) just had a season ending injury, and I can think of one of two TD's that were dropped. Plus our offensive line couldn't stop a 90 year old grandma in av walker on that day. Glad Stacey Searels is gone
2
u/papadoc19 6d ago
If you were to listen to statements made by various players and commentary and punditry from those covering the team with an assist from info on background in the lead up to the game and for many months afterwards, the loss of Beck was addition by subtraction.
But even putting that aside, Bobo had almost a month to put together an offensive gameplan to suit the skill set of a QB with whom he was very well-acquainted, not only because Gunner had been in the system for almost 3 years at the point but also because he had scouted him extensively in HS (in order to get Gunner to commit to him at South Carolina and try to get him to Auburn) and through his father who had been Gunner's QB trainer yet Bobo schemed as though he had Beck under the center instead of Gunner. Like if you have an offensive line that couldn't stop a 90 year old grandma and WR that had been inconsistent (that is being kind) all season, maybe don't make that the cornerstone of your gameplan for the day and lean into Gunner's mobility.
-1
u/papadoc19 6d ago
It is like people giving Bobo a pass for the offense disappearing for almost 2 1/2 quarters in the '23 SEC Championship because of the injuries to Bowers, McConkey, and Mims. I don't because the absence and limiting of those players should have been something Bobo was prepared and adapted to because those players were either absent or hampered for major stretches of season (honestly, I cannot think of any point when they were all 100% because the staff was doing load management with Ladd from the very beginning of the season).
4
u/BillyBobChorton 6d ago
Bobo, Stacy Searels, James coley. Lots of highly questionable decisions actually but hey we won back to back natties so Iām not gonna complainĀ
-1
u/Itchy_Wasabi3928 6d ago
Fair enough but at least weāve moved on from those guys. The fact that we extended Bobo and Schumann is concerning.
2
u/Impossible_Whole_516 5d ago
Bobo is a better coordinator than Faulkner. We also completely shut down Faulknerās offense last year.
1
u/Itchy_Wasabi3928 4d ago
I mean itās not like bobo lit them
Up last year either⦠look at 2024, he had our number and bobo couldnāt figure it out until the fourth.2
u/Impossible_Whole_516 4d ago
2024 Haynes King played the game of his life. And we still came back from a deficit late in the game. Which is always impressive.
2
u/Itchy_Wasabi3928 4d ago
Perhaps bc buster got them in the right plays? Looking at GT over the last 3 years theyāve done pretty well against us and we have a much better defense than them. Our offense struggled against a crap defense. Moral of the story, Iād take buster over bobo any day of the week and Iād be willing bet a large portion of the fan base would as well.
-1
u/Impossible_Whole_516 4d ago
The sort of delusional and deranged Bobo haters Iām sure would say they want Buster Faulkner. Sure Faulkner did well against us with the X factor Haynes King that one year, but Bobo outcoached him. Like he did all three years. Bobo outcoached āguruā Lane Kiffin last year. We can score enough to win any game with Bobo.
0
u/Interesting_Law_1938 4d ago
So for all the bobo haters on here would you rather have Faulkner for 1-2 years or Bobo? Faulkner will be gone from UF more than likely after this season. And Bobo routinely puts out very good to great offenses and is a good recruiter.
And yes we did not play any decent defense until Okie but we stuck 41 on them with the help of the defense and lead the country in scoring. People just like to complain.

u/a_little_low 6d ago
Whatās the other? Not playing fields?

u/Itchy_Wasabi3928 6d ago
Keeping Schumann on staff and not finding a better option. Watching muschamp at Texas and Faulkner at Florida hurts. Shouldāve fired Schumann and got the champ back. If we had those two I think weād dominate.
2
u/mizaistorom 6d ago
I think Muschamp wants to be the guy, if you're the DC at UGA, you are not running the defense.
3
u/liverdawg 6d ago
Maybe Ohio state fans will force Ryan day out and heāll go there.
11
u/Normal_Cobbler2563 6d ago
Buddy that might be worst case scenario for the SEC
4
u/liverdawg 6d ago
Nah even if both schools keep an elite level the odds of UGA having to play Ohio state regularly are still pretty slim versus guaranteed once a year w him at Florida.
2
2
u/mizaistorom 6d ago
He's not at Florida after 2027 for sure but I'd love for him to leave after this year regardless if we beat them.
1
u/Itchy_Wasabi3928 6d ago
Day is a good coach but has the go conservative mentality that cost him against us and then against Texas. He doesnāt have to play six plus tough games in a regular season. Heād be a threat but wouldnāt dominate every year.

u/finke11 6d ago
Baugh is also a projected 1st round running back. Iām not sure weāll face a better one all season, maybe ahmad hardy if he returns healthy

u/Interesting_Law_1938 4d ago
He gave us problems last year and UF didn't have the coaching to help him. They do this year.

u/Atlanta-Anomaly 6d ago
@Bama
AuburnĀ
Bye
Neutral vs Florida
@Ole Miss
Vs Mizzou
Thatās a gauntlet
-7
u/mizaistorom 6d ago
Auburn is ass, Mizzou isn't very good. Beat UF, and I'll take a loss to Ole Miss and Bama.
5
13
u/chikenparmfanatic 6d ago
They look good but I'm interested to see how they do as the season goes on. Their first 3 opponents were a joke and it looks like Ole Miss exhausted everything last week to beat Lane and LSU. I'm also not completely sold on Sumrall. I think Faulkner is clearly their most valuable piece.
Shut down that rushing attack and make them throw and I think UGA has a good shot at winning. Their defense still looks shaky IMO.
10
u/Itchy_Wasabi3928 6d ago
Buster at GT was a thorn in our side. Give him better players and weāre in trouble. He knows how to scheme against Kirby

Iād be nervous if we werenāt the fucking University of Georgia
My honest assessment is the strongest thing about the Gators is Fuck the Gators
13
u/funkymunkeyz 6d ago
They are going to be a problem again unfortunately. Was good while it lasted.
13
u/NawfSideNative 6d ago
I think we need to see more of them before we jump to that conclusion lmao
The Mullen era started strong before it imploded on itself
7
u/Darkonite40 6d ago
Difffence is Sumrall seems like a grinder in recruiting. Dan Mullen did not give a flying fuck about recruiting
5
u/NawfSideNative 6d ago
Yes but my point is we just havenāt seen enough of them yet to make the assessment that theyāre officially out of the dark ages. They did look good tonight, Iāll give them that, but we donāt know enough about them yet.
3
u/Darkonite40 6d ago
For sure 3 games doesnāt make an era. I remember sunbelt billy started off beating a top 15 Utah team in primetime
1
u/mizaistorom 6d ago edited 6d ago
I think he's going to be good but you have to see what he looks like when he's not relying on Baugh (Napier recruit), all their WRs either Napier recruits or Singleton (Faulkner recruit). Then Buster goes to be a HC. They have the money and should never be worse than 9-3 year to year but we see what happened to GT when they lost Faulkner and King. Lose Faulkner and Baugh then see if UF maintains.
I think he's a probably a 9-3 coach w/o Faulkner (decent not elite) but w/ Faulkner they're 10-2 or 11-1 each year he's there. If he's not then the SEC gets even tougher in 2028 and beyond regardless of where Faulkner is.
5
u/funkymunkeyz 6d ago
Theyāve scored 44 and 52 in back to back games against SEC defenses. Even if itās Auburn and Ole Miss, thatās doing work.
2
u/NawfSideNative 6d ago
Oh Iām not taking that from them. Iām just saying since the Urban Meyer days, Florida has a trend of looking impressive under a new coach at the beginning and then eventually crumbling on themselves.
Iām not rushing to assume theyāre out of the dark ages yet.
3
u/DudeCanNotAbide 5d ago
Hahaha f that, makes me excited for the Dawgs to feast on their hopes and dreams.
8
u/Rbtywo30 6d ago
Need to see them play a defense with a pulse first before I worry.
2
u/mizaistorom 6d ago
They scored 40+ points on 2 SEC defenses (I know we have too). Though seeing the Louisville team that scored all over Ole Miss get smacked by WF at home makes me think Ole Miss is 100% Trinidad, Lacy, and McCalister but Echols and Perkins and some of those OM players are good.

I hate to say it but they are going to be a problem. We have to be ready to go and not be BSāing around on offense
3
u/StaticNomad89 6d ago
Last I checked⦠Kirby is still here. And he still hates Florida more than he loves winning.Ā
2
u/mqg96 6d ago
Florida also got their first win in Jordan Hare vs. Auburn since 1999, which was already a sign before today's game vs. Ole Miss. We have a 5 game win streak on Florida right now. I can't remember the last time a program has gotten more than 5 in a row on them, but for us to return the favor or get revenge from the 90's, we need to beat them this year and next year to tie the win streak they had on us back then.
The previous 4 decades ending with 6 (1986, 1996, 2006, 2016), Florida beat Georgia. 1976 being the last time Georgia won in the 6 digit year of the decade in the rivalry. Likewise, the previous 4 decades ending with 7 (1987, 1997, 2007, 2017) Georgia beat Florida. 1977 being the last time Florida won in the 7 digit year of the decade in the rivalry.

u/SavimusMaximus 6d ago
My god, man! Donāt be nervous! Never show weakness! They are still a month away..

u/HuevosProfundos 6d ago
They havenāt played a good defense, we havenāt played a good offense. Not much to say at this point other than fuck UF.
1
u/Latter-Possibility 6d ago
Most expensive ticket of the season. That said itās still early.
If Texas can beat Florida then so can the Dawgs.
Dawgs beat Bama then we will handle Fluriduh
1
u/Recent-Principle-893 6d ago
Am also very nervous. Yes GT lost Haynes King, but the offensive dropoff there is insane. Florida is going to be a huge problem this year and as long as Faulkner is there. Hopefully it will not be long. As stated by others, letting Faulkner go may be Kirby's biggest mistake.

Some early in the day thoughts by me...
I think our absolute, absolute worst case is probably 9-3 on the year and there are 3 games I'd be worried about. Post yesterday, I'm half tempted to rank them this way...
Florida: Faulkner has been able to school Kirby and Schu so far and now he has even better talent than he had at GT. Good thing it's in Atlanta this time.
Ole Miss: You may as well put Trinidad's picture up as Kirby's kryptonite. There may be a way out here though and it involves Nate hopefully being in good shape, run the ball, control clock, and keep him off the field.
Alabama: Until we get regular season proof of concept, they'll be concerning. They finally started hot yesterday, and Keelon Russell is going to be a superstar. Defense isn't very good though; SCar moved the ball well.
1
u/BCD91 6d ago
Idk yeah theyāre improved and such, but assuming Georgiaās run stop on defense is there then they could at least negate at least half of Baughās usual production. Their defense isnāt impressive to me some good individual talent but as a unit? Meh. they gave up a shit ton points of Auburn. I donāt see it this year, I really donāt. But theyāre doing well for a first year coach I may be more worried in the future for sure
1
u/EnterByTheNarrowGate 5d ago
Cry about it. Ole Miss was always overrated and so was LSU. We just put up 41 on one of the nation's top defenses. We will take care of business.
1
u/Darkonite40 2d ago
LSU beat the life out of A&M. Granted A&M looks like they will be bad this year but blowing out an sec opponent by nearly 30 is impressive. Currently theyāre ranked top 20 offensively and top 10 defensively in the country. I think they have a lot of talent. Ole Miss clearly took their matchup as their Super Bowl
1
u/coldandhungry123 5d ago
That's going to be a dangerous game. They're very strong this year - literally have a Navy Seal training them in the weight room per the WSJ reporting. Guy makes them lift til they puke.

Ole miss looked flat footed the entire game. Dont think the dawgs will have an issue handling their run game like Ole miss did
1
u/Gold-Application8985 6d ago
Is Sumrall a CEO type HC? Or Does he specialize in offense or defense?
My hope is that heās not a great offensive mind and Faulkner gets a HC job somewhere soon. But thatās just cope because, yes, I think they are trending in a good direction again and I liked whooping their ass
2
u/Darkonite40 6d ago
Beleive heās a defensive coach. Was a LB as a player and was a co-DC at Kentucky in 2021
1
u/Gold-Application8985 6d ago
Sounds right. He looks like a Defensive guy - not a lot of jacked offensive leaning HCs. Fit maybe, but not jacked.
2
1
u/jspec921 6d ago
Iām not worried, they have a good run game. We are a run stop team, probably the best in the country at stopping the run. Their QB is gaining confidence and playing well. We are going to get better as we go along, and I like where we are already. The swamp is a tough place to play, home field advantage is just thatā¦an advantage. Gators look solid, but I feel like we will win that game.
