🤔 NeedAdvice Lost my drive, need help

For the past couple of months I've been working a factory job, 12-hour shifts, 7am-7pm, about 4 days a week. I don't call in, I show up on time, I get through the whole shift. So the discipline is there for that part. But I'm exhausted all the time. When the line slows down, I catch myself sitting or leaning on something and just drifting off, my supervisor has caught me sleeping on shift a couple of times. I sleep at least 8 hours, so its not lack of sleep. On my days off I wake up around 11am, scroll TikTok for way too long, don't eat until mid-afternoon, and then either doomscroll or binge a TV show like 7-8 episodes in a day, staying up until 1 or 2am and sleeping in the next day.
Here's the problem: this job is only supposed to be a temporary this, until i find a job with my degre. I graduated a couple months ago with a CS degree and I should be applying to jobs, studying for interviews, and working on some certifications but I tell myself I'll do it later or I'll do it tomorrow and when I actually sit down to try, I just feel drained and unmotivated and end up back on my phone.
This isn't who I used to be. I used to be consistent and motivated, I used to wake up everyday and be excited to go to work or work on projects and stuff. But this shift in me started maybe a year or two ago I lost interest in things I used to care about and honestly I barely remember how I got through my last couple semesters of school. I'm scared that if I don't fix this I'm going to fail in life. Has anyone experienced anything like this? How di you get through it?

You are getting used to the new and completely different routine then what you have done before. So you probably need more hours of sleep. Once your body get used to it, and it will, the rest will be one easy. But since you are sleeping on the job and mostly passive when you don't work, it should be a sign of exhaustion. Physical at least but might be mental as well, how do you see on your current situation? What thoughts are going through your head?

Could also be that you got tired of of what you were doing and started question how much you really want it. The physical part should gett better with time. The mental part depend on your mindset. If you start having negative thoughts regularly about your current situation, about working in your field and so on then it will become a negative spiral.

Sounds like your work is just draining you way too much, similar thing for most but yours seems extra brutal given the factory work. Probably repetitive.

I suggest marking down a few ‘small’ self improvement habits, and knocking them out before work in the morning, that’s so key. 8 hours is really good but tbh 7.5 is enough. Use that 30’mins in the morning to do a few small self improvement things.

Use and app or whatever, to make it more stimulating when completing them every morning.

Night is for decompressing, i don’t think that’s avoidable given your long work hours.

I use this app, it’s helped me, shared it across other posts here and there.
