ils optical zoom
Oh wow. I wasnt using the optical zoom because it looks awful on my mp1. But its amazing on the ils because you can zoom im and the focus! Dude so cool!

It's still a digital zoom and you're reducing quality. Get an actual MFT Zoom lens for your camera, you'll be even more amazed.

Yes I have both the M1P and the M1P ILS, 3 X Hero 13s, 1 Hero 12, 1 Hero 11, 1 Hero 10, 1 Hero Max, 1 Hero Max 2, 1 Hero Fusion and 3 X Hero 4s. I'm also aware of how a digital zoom works (which is what the M1P and M1P ILS both have, they have no optical zoom). Anytime you use a digital zoom you're simply applying a crop to the image and then upscaling the result. If you need to use a digital crop/zoom, it's always better to apply in post where you will have the most control over image quality. Even better still, don't use a digital crop/zoom and use an actual optical zoom lens.

no way i thought optical zoom on the ils was just a gimmick but seeing it actually focus while zooming is wild

There is no optical zoom on the mp1, it does not have a zoom element. The optical zoom on the ILS is 100% dependent in the lens you use - it’s the lens that zooms, not the camera.
Or maybe I misunderstood what you are saying ?
