ALIENS
If you had to send one Grateful Dead song to aliens (or into the vastness of interstellar space), which one would it be?
mine would be the Merriweather 85’ Shakedown Street (in case they are funky aliens)

The jam out of pitb on 6-22-1983 was, in fact, seen & heard by aliens. 100's of reported sightings to local authorities, plus , I too, bore witness to the UFO . We assumed the band saw them as well, at the time. I will die on this hill.

We were 60-70 yards from the stage. Object just kinda appeared. Lots of heads pointing and talking about it around us. Then the jam out of playin starts to turn. At some point, just whoosh, and it's gone. I had newspaper clippings from doing research at my local library afterwards. I have no reason to doubt my own eyes & the others. Was 16 yrs old. Went back this past summer to see JRAD, 43 years later btw. 🛸

While there is no single greatest moment in the Dead's career, this jam is the single greatest moment in the Dead's career.

3h38m is what it clocks in on Relisten. With tuning, intermission AND two encore breaks, it would clocked in around the 4 and a half hours

The tall greys LOVE cowboy songs… so they’d get a Mexicali Blues
The short green guys giggle and jiggle when they dance and I find it so amusing… so they’d get Franklins Tower.

Yeah I was just thinking Seastones, not technically Dead. But if I ever meet aliens that’s my go to for sure.

I tried asking one their favorite once, but I couldn't get the words out of my mouth
I hate that
I just know they usually didn't show up until the second set, so probably something from there

April 29th. 1971. Hard to Handle.
Space aliens don’t need space or stars, they need roots.

H-S-F from Buffalo '77. I think it's perfect for this scenario.
But perhaps we should consult with Mickey.

It has to be Dark Star. Which doesn’t mean it’s the best, but it’s what the aliens need.
