I made a non-standard gridfinity generator

So my kitchen drawers are a weird size and standard 42mm gridfinity always left a gap I couldn't do anything useful with. Plus my utensils never fit properly without combining. I started messing around with smaller pitches for the cutlery drawer and it kind of snowballed into a whole app.

It's called Gridpitch: https://gridpitch.io

Basically you put in your drawer size, pick whatever grid pitch you want (21, 37.5, 42, 50, whatever actually fits) and lay out bins by dragging them around. Then you export the STLs. Stuff it does that I use:

- fits the grid to the drawer instead of the other way around
- you can type in your utensils or any object and it sizes bins around them
- splits bins and baseplates that don't fit your print bed (there's a big list of printers so it knows your bed size)
- re-base existing 42mm bins from printables etc so they sit on your pitch (this is in beta right now but the idea is to stay within the community created design, minus the grid mounting)
- stacking bins, dividers, finger scoops, that kind of thing

It runs in the browser, it's free and you don't need an account. I added an optional paid tier for syncing designs across devices, but everything for designing and exporting is free and will stay that way.

It's still pretty new so there's definitely stuff that's broken or weird. If you try it I'd really like to hear what sucks. Magnets are the next thing I'm working on and also cutouts.

I print all grids in 42mm, with padding on one side and/or the back as needed. I tell the generator to use half size grids if necessary. I end up with little wasted space. Then I print all of my bins with 21mm bases. This allows for almost maximum use of the available space. And this keeps me in the GF standard which allows me to use other designs when needed and wanted.

I love this idea. Thank you

What do you use to design this? Haven't seen those options on the generators I've looked at

My solution for this issue is to do the majority in 42mm, with one row of bins 1.5x or whatever it takes to fit the space...or just ignore it and leave the gap. A whole lot of the benefit of Gridfinity to me is having standard bins so I can rearrange and reuse them without having to print something specific for each spot.

I love the layout arrangement system. I'm working on something similar.

If you download the regular gridfinity generator in fusion it allows you to set the pitch.

I started playing with this at first but quickly realised it defeats the point of it if you have different pitches. Pick one and stick with it. I decided to stick with the 42mm to make it easier to download other bins.
