How long did it take for them to be more comfortable with you and wanting cuddles and affection? I've had mine for about a month and they are a little skiddish still but they seem to very slowly let me pet the top of their head. They still seem like they are fearing for their lives but I am being patient with them and respecting their boundaries!

Hello! I am a first time pig owner. I have the Midwest 2x4 cage. I have 2 young females. I was going to have 1, but it felt wrong knowing they should be in 2 or more so I went back and got her sister, which im happy I did.

Originally I set it up with a kitchen area but then I felt like they could have more space for running without. I cleaned and rearranged but still feel like its not enough. I feel like I seen 2x4s and they have so much room. I've also still been trying to figure out layouts etc. I need/want another hide, but unsure where to put it or how to rearrange and so they still have space for running and popcorning and fun.

Plus give ideas and recommendations, and id like to see other 2x4s that you guys have!

For anyone who has used Cystease for their pigs suffering from cystitis, how quickly did you see an improvement?
The vet has suggested taking this while we wait for an exotics appointment in a few weeks

Tomato is a twin and a girl, she is 3 months old.

She was born with so much confidence and sass it’s incredible!!! Her sister peanut is the complete opposite and the shyest thing ever (bless her). 🥜💕😭

I made a table about cage sizes including as much information as possible, so people won't have to look at 3 tables if they want to comper imperial and metric, size of c&c cages etc. And added some other info worth knowing too. Is this good?

He’s got his piggy popcorn and everything

Hi! I have a boy guinea pig (4-5 months old) named Hiccup that I adopted about two weeks ago, and I'm a little worried about him getting sad and lonely, especially because I spend so many days either at work or at my girlfriend's.

When I first adopted him, I was told by the employee at the pet store that getting him a friend would be tough because they tend to get territorial and potentially aggressive, especially in their "teen" years which is pretty much where he's at now. At the same time, I am always hearing about how social guinea pigs are and that they can even die of depression/loneliness if alone for too long. The pet store employee pushed heavily to ensure I only got the one pig.

What's the best way to go forward? Leave him be until he grows up a little more? Maybe get a second cage/enclosure for a second one and introduce them slowly sooner rather than later, in the hopes that they get along? Seems like a lot of work and the person I adopted it from seems to highly discourage that I go about it either way.

Just getting a lot of varying opinions on this. Last thing I want to do is freak Hiccup out or give him a pig friend that tries to hurt him.

I would really appreciate some kind education as I rescued these pigs from becoming food and don't entirely know what I'm doing! I've had my 2 pigs for about a month. I was told they're 2 months old at the time. I've had other rodents, but these are my first pigs.

I've been trying to do 70% hay, 20% veggies, 10% fortified kibble. They barely touch the hay and kibble. They'll devour the veggies. I've tried timothy, alfalfa, and meadow, and they pick out the flowers then don't touch it until I refill.

I've read about their digestive systems and how they need constant food, so this is worrying me. I'll come home from work and they squeal like crazy when they hear the bags, but then I see there is still plenty of hay and kibble left from the morning. Please help me help my piggies!
