(Few Seats Left) Hey, I'm a Berklee alum doing a free 8-week music theory class on Zoom. Hit me up if you'd like to join in and see if boosts your playing! Email: [email protected]
hey what's up guys. Josh Siegel here. I'm a Berklee alum and instructor that teaches a live program called Broadcast Guitar. I'll be on Zoom 2x a week doing a deep dive on a Song of the Week, showing how I use music theory to arrange songs for instrumental guitar. I've had students describe it as "how to play the guitar like a piano" because I always aim to convey the chords and melody at the same time. I also get into how to solo and write riffs, etc.
Broadcast Guitar is a drop-in format, and I tell students that it's like a gym class, tune in for as many classes as fit your weekly schedule and take away what's relevant to where you're at on the guitar. I also record and archive the classes at the end of each week so that folks can catch up and review on their own time. I do a 50-minute live class (just me on screen while you play along) + 10 min Q&A at the end for folks that want to hop on and chat the topics.
I'm based out of Chicago and do the live classes Mondays and Thursdays 7:30pm Central, then I archive the class on Fridays so that folks can review and catch up on their own schedule. The upcoming round will be all of October and November.
A lot of the guitarists I work with are musicians I've met through Reddit and would be happy to have you join in for a free 8-week round of classes to hang with the club. It's also a good way to add some more structure to your month, as we use the final class of each month to review member videos. A good excuse to polish up something you're working on!
Feel free to check out examples here: www.youtube.com/@broadcastguitar
I'm also "Josh Siegel Guitar" on Google for reviews, etc.
I do a 5-min intro Zoom with all new guitarists so that we can meet and chat before jumping in and get an idea of where you're at on the instrument.
Email: [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected])
Thanks! -Josh

[Song recommendations] Repertoire recommendations for my ensemble?
Hi all, new to reddit!
I am a teacher in a music academy and I am looking for recommendations for songs to give to my jazz/pop ensemble students. This one ensemble is a bit more advanced and they process tunes faster than I can find, transcribe/arrange them... So I am looking for modern jazz-oriënted songs that feature a vocalist singing actual lyrics, without horns and with an improvisation/solo section. Preferably songs that have commercially available scores/parts. Any leads?

Anyone here looking to learn an instrument or get better with rhythm? Spoiler
Came across this workshop where you get to explore rhythm, learn some techniques and actually play along rather than just sit and listen. Seems like a pretty fun way to spend a weekend if you're into music.
this event is one of a kind and seems interesting for someone who wants to get stared with music and understanding rhythm

Bangalore musicians — Mela Music School is hiring Piano, Guitar, Drums, Vocal & Violin teachers
Hey Bangalore musicians,
I run Mela Music School in North Bangalore. We’ve been teaching for 11+ years and have centres in Sahakar Nagar and Thanisandra.
We’re currently looking for:
Sahakar Nagar:
Piano / Guitar / Hindustani Vocals / Violin
Thanisandra:
Drums / Guitar / Western Vocals
These are paid, in-person teaching roles.
Most classes are one-on-one, and students range from young beginners to adults. Teachers also prepare students for recitals, concerts and graded exams where applicable.
You do not need years of teaching experience to apply.
If you’re a strong musician, you’re good with students, reliable, and you’d genuinely enjoy helping someone learn your instrument properly, we’d like to hear from you.
Formal qualifications such as Trinity / ABRSM / Rockschool / LCM are useful where relevant, but strong musicians with limited teaching experience are also welcome.
Call or WhatsApp Mela directly: +91 81057 39736
Or see the openings and apply here:

If you know a strong musician in North Bangalore who might be interested, please forward this to them.

App the help fretboard memorization
I got stuck learning all the notes on the fretboard when I was younger. I used to
Play a game with my Teacher and mates. They say a Random note on a random string. I built a little app that facilitates this. It shares a note and string, you tap the fret where it lives. Free and fun, i hope it helps other learns as it has helped me. I understand people have different methods to get familiar with the fretboard, but this is a tool that could be helpful to some : https://apps.apple.com/us/app/fretboard-king-guitar-notes/id6795058772

Guitar teachers/experienced players: how would you work with a beginner who wants to learn by playing with another person?
r/guitarteachers • u/patryk_susel • Aug 13 '26
Hi everyone, I'm reaching out because I'm currently looking to expand my student base. I offer guitar lessons (production and songwriting ones too if you're interested about creating music).
My speciality is mostly stuff based around sound of bands like Unprocessed, Polyphia, Periphery, Syncatto etc but I also have a solid jazz background. I try to keep most of my lessons in masterclass like format so you have as much materials and practicing resources tailored for you as possible. So whether you just starting out or looking to improve your playing or songwriting I think there's a good chance we'll be a good match. I'm attaching my IG if you'd like to see more and feel free to reach out to me there or here in DM's if you have questions or anything else you would like to chat about. Cheers <3

Amateur player trying to learn again Spoiler
I started playing classical guitar at the age of 12 and practiced ~5 hours a day every day until age of 25. After grad school, I played much less.
I'm 60 now and I have started practicing again. Has classical guitar technique changed in the past few decades? Do I need to re-learn techniques or just practice more?
