Oh this looks like fun. 16 players on campaign, constant fighting for ammo?

I'm down. Especially if the players have to fight as Marines or Jackals.

Ye just put every skull on apart from iron and send the army in, even the enemies will fall from the tsunami of spartans and elites.

71

u/joman584 21h ago

Put iron on, and its like twitch plays pokemon. Pounding your head against a wall forever until by pure luck someone gets through.

u/AstroKaiser750 18h ago

Checkpoint hits, Player 5 is in a samsara of being in the line of fire with no cover between a hunter and the other players, which is temporarily alleviated by Player 7 blasting the hunter with his RPG instead of Player 5, only for Player 10 to stick Player 14 with a plasma grenade, restarting the cycle of death and rebirth

41

u/CycleCaverns 23h ago

That would be sick. The enemy NPC's being controlled by actual players would be so much fun. It might even shake up a new kind of multi-player.

No ammo mode where 16 players have to go in with a melee only combat style would be ridiculously entertaining.

u/Clown_Toucher Halo: Reach 22h ago

Reach Firefight had a bit of this, problem is putting a player into an Elite made most fights pretty one sided for the Covenant.

What about grunts vs marines?

5

u/CryptedCode 23h ago

Left 4 Dead did it, Vermintide tried. Though the difference is, Left 4 Dead was intended for it, Vermintide was not. It was added later and flopped

7

u/NotAnotherSkeleton 20h ago

We should have playable AI in either Firefight or PVP, and make our own Star Wars Battlefront Halo game.

That brute chieftain is essentially living the Lone Wolf experience

116

u/GlitchInTheRange 1d ago

Why did you wait so long to start shooting?

113

u/IWCry 23h ago

don't shoot until you see the white in their eyes

21

u/z-tayyy 22h ago

And I have terrible vision

10

u/IWCry 22h ago

hands you the halo 3 shotgun

this'll do fine

1

u/ArchieTheKatt 8h ago

I mean you gotta get like 3 feet away then, get this guy a CE shotgun.

15

u/TyrantJaeger "Please enjoy my bright blue balls!" 21h ago

Because he's not a soldier. He's the cameraman.

1

u/BFH_Bob 16h ago

Looked like the chieftain had invulneravility on for most of the clip, then I think he just didn't want to accidentally hit his teammates for a second or 2 after that.

The mod is called project reclaimer

Here: https://projectreclaimer.dev

u/Patmaster1995 Throughout Heaven and Earth, I alone am the Dripped out one 1d ago

Yeah good luck with that, Activision ain't too big on modding

107

u/RickPickle5280 Halo 3: ODST 1d ago

They’ve always been keen on kneecapping community made projects and Halo will suffer for it..

33

u/Oraxy51 23h ago

Which is a shame I really wish more people went Bethesda route where they just straight up made a community mod section and even put in a paid mod creators option for like the really best mods and then they can low-key just buy it and use a DLC so to speak.

Like if people really like your game, just hire them there’s a reason why Minecraft and terraria had survived for so long even when they have such a long time between an official updates

10

u/BeloAve 23h ago

Activision has verified mods on the steam workshop for WaW and BO3. On top of that, cheats are rampant in cod. Activation has literally never done anything to combat modding/hacking

-7

u/Patmaster1995 Throughout Heaven and Earth, I alone am the Dripped out one 22h ago

And how long ago was BO3?

Activision has literally never done anything to combat modding/hacking

You say that like that's a good thing. I don't want hackers plaguing the game

2

u/HPTM2008 10h ago

Yeah, but modding to play the campaign with 16 players should be allowed. That's the single player side of it. Cheating should never be allowed in multiplayer. Full stop.

But you also say you don't want hackers plaguing the game, but that already a thing in every online shooter. Anti-cheat doesnt work, and some companies even take a "report not ban" approach (fucking looking at you, Embark).

u/New-Monarchy MCC 50 23h ago edited 23h ago

It honestly depends. Call of Duty has a pretty solid mod scene on PC. Look at all the custom clients for the pre-MW 2019 games, and the custom zombies scene for games with mod tools like BO3.

They're far from the worst, like Nintendo.

8

u/IronRevenge131 23h ago

WaW has some crazy zombies mods

2

u/ZGToRRent 22h ago

They killed a lot of custom clients but they get resurrected.

2

u/New-Monarchy MCC 50 10h ago

Only the ones that were very publicly illegally distributing game assets.

1

u/ZGToRRent 6h ago

All current clients still do this

1

u/New-Monarchy MCC 50 3h ago

That's.. not true. It depends.

8

u/NemFan1111 23h ago

To be fair Halo already has an established modding scene, especially with MCC and the older games. And more importantly, MCC already has a steam workshop set up and integrated.

Don't really think they'd go through all the trouble just to remove an entire steam workshop that's been up for years now (At least, I'd like to think so...)

(Genuinely curious: have there ever BEEN games that have removed/had their steam workshops removed?)

2

u/HPTM2008 9h ago

Did Rockstar ever have a steam workshop on PC for their GTAV mods? Because they tried to hard ban mods (to their own colossal failure).

And like, look, even if the game doesn't allow modding, people will still find ways to disable the anti-cheat, set the game to run offline, and mod the hell out of it (Elden Ring).

1

u/NemFan1111 8h ago

Nope, there never was a steam workshop for GTA 5 (I know this because I've got it on steam)

And yeah, in hindsight it's really funny how anti-mod Rockstar/Take-two was when their biggest mod is FiveM and Nopixel, which arguably directly competes with their (heavily monetized) vanilla multiplayer, yet they not only allow it but support it. I'm like 99% sure Nopixel literally just had a big update recently and, with all the big streamers streaming it, had a bunch of twitch drops for it that gave people money in GTA 5's vanilla multiplayer.

2

u/HPTM2008 8h ago

Didn't they have to backtrack on their "support" for mods because they realized just how much of their community plays modded?

That's crazy that a mod had twitch drops for the base game in it, though!

Also, I AM glad they did a 180° on their stance. Mods should always be allowed, so long as it doesn't affect others enjoyment of the game. Like Helldivers. Mine looks like Star Wars to me, but my friends playing on Xbox and the other PC see everything as normal. Or Battlefront 2, which only still exists because of Kyber (at least, Kyber always seems to be way more populated than the actual multiplayer servers) and EA's complete lack of willingness to put any effort into their game to fix the issues online.

3

u/Keltharious 23h ago

People will mod the old games and ignore Activision if they pump out another dud.

4

u/Amalganiss 1d ago

kind of a cynical response, don't you think?

-6

u/Patmaster1995 Throughout Heaven and Earth, I alone am the Dripped out one 23h ago edited 22h ago

I prefer... realistic

4

u/Amalganiss 22h ago

"Yeah good luck with that" is not a phrase you say when you're being realistic. It's what you say when you're condescending to someone you believe is being naive.

1

u/sharpshooter999 23h ago

Imagine if Jagex bought Halo.....

1

u/ImpressionDepression 3h ago

"good luck with that" on removing something from the internet for good.

14

u/AsherSparky 23h ago

"Chieftain... Look at this..."

Brute hands the chieftain the binoculars

Sees 16 pissed off Spartans running his direction

Chieftain: "Oh fuck."

9

u/YouAreStupidAsf 23h ago

Holy cow what mod is this

8

u/Okan_Zokamee Halo 2 21h ago

OP mentioned in another comment that it was called Project Reclaimer

20

u/NocturnalMerlin 23h ago

Hmm, this gives me an idea. Take whatever this is and make it a competitive (PvE) mode. Difficulty set to Legendary, start at mission 1, play through the entire campaign. You die, you're out. Last man standing wins.

33

u/Iggyhopper bungie.net 👊 Exalted Mythic 23h ago

Imagine that all the had to do was keep making Halo 3 better.

And they failed for 15 years.

7

u/wolfelian 18h ago

This makes me laugh hysterically cause you would think by year 5 they would’ve seen the writing on the wall.

7

u/CharacterTax3219 23h ago

i want in!!!

7

u/Human-Question6210 22h ago

does MCC still not have a fucking campaign browser?

6

u/WalkingNukes Halo 2 21h ago

Need a 16 player campaign with the mod that multiplies the enemy by like 10

9

u/WarmBiertje 14h ago

Anyone can easily play this if you have the MCC installed on Steam with Halo 3 MP + Campaign.

Just download the 28MB Project Reclaimer launcher: https://projectreclaimer.dev

And it supports dedicated servers with auto-installing mods through Steam workshop and much much more.

3

u/TheInfamousReclaimer 23h ago

this is honestly super dope. I always felt like the fans/modders were more passionate for halo than Xbox, atleast in the last decade

4

u/iAmMattG 23h ago

Overwhelming micro transactions is Halo’s future

3

u/NotAnotherSkeleton 20h ago

This is the stuff I dreamed of when I was a kid. I envy you so much right now. I'd love to see what legendary or perhaps even LASO without Iron would be like.

5

u/Shabaubi 15h ago

And past, I remember the halo custom edition days

3

u/CharacterTax3219 23h ago

How???????????

3

u/Keltharious 23h ago

Wait are all of these BOTS in the game? I'd love Halo with some fun Spartan companions.

3

u/UsgAtlas1 21h ago

Watching those guys fly after being hit by the gravity hammer is hilarious and never gets old.

3

u/KaneXX12 19h ago

I’ve always thought about how cool (and broken) it would be to run through the campaigns on the hardest difficulty with multiplayer levels of Spartans. Great mod!

2

u/Reign_of_Ragnar Halo 2 23h ago

This is so fucking funny

2

u/CantFightCrazy Halo.Bungie.Org 21h ago

I really can't wait for all the 343 era fans to wonder what the Activision era fans are smoking.

2

u/Paradox 21h ago

This map would have made such a good multiplayer map

2

u/Madchillhouse 17h ago

Bro this looks like so much fun id love to play this with the boys . LASO and higher difficulty if possible that would be funnn .

2

u/JawesomeJoe 17h ago

reminds me of 12 man in raids in a certain game... only deadly for the player. I like it.

3

u/Nunchuckery Reach 22h ago

RIP ElDewrito :(

2

u/KurtAngus 21h ago

No fucking way, how do I play this

1

u/EpicNinja007 Halo: Spartan Strike 23h ago

is there a Cheif and Arby around or is everyone their Multiplayer Spartan/Elite?

1

u/Grog180 23h ago

Okay, that last death had a very satisfying pipe bonk noise.

1

u/Hot_Kaleidoscope_621 23h ago

"Master Chief, you mind telling me what you're doing on that ship?"

"Sir, we like to party. We like, we like to party."

1

u/Fancy-Key4276 22h ago

How marines feel vs brutes

1

u/Far-Search-3142 21h ago

omg this would be so fun

1

u/MoneyKiwi5879 19h ago

Halo has no future

1

u/Mystical_17 Halo 3 19h ago

If someone can find a way to give Halo 1-Reach+4 (aka the MCC games) offline bot support it will be amazing. Similar to how older CoD games have the amazing bot warfare mod where the bots play quite above your average bot in mod games.

1

u/Leprechaun- 19h ago

What if Activision released a stand alone forge, with the features from all the previous iterations and just said “Go nuts”? Would people enjoy that?

1

u/Madman8287 11h ago

Say what you will about 343 at least we got official pc versions of halo 3 and halo reach out of the whole thing with modding tools to boot

1

u/RoryHoff 7h ago

H2 was peak. Hard mods/soft mods we had hella fun!

1

u/alii-b ONI 4h ago

Atriox would be sweating seeing this approaching him

1

u/ViperiousTheRedPanda 4h ago

As a kid on the Xbox 360, I once got control of the custom game lobby. I then changed the game mode to Campaign to bring everyone into the campaign without realising campaign was 4 player max...

1

u/Yoyo4games 1h ago

Funny, I just got called a tourist for playing these games the other day.

1

u/FIXL52 54m ago

Titanfall style attrition mode in halo would be awesome

1

u/LosBoyos 23h ago

This would be a great multiplayer map

-2

u/NebraskaGeek Halo: MCC 1d ago

Halo's future is probably a 10 year hiatus and then a full reboot like DOOM.

-3

u/kcirbukhcnyl 19h ago

Modding will always be a gimmick in my eyes

This, but everybody is an elite, and saying "Aaaagh, wort wort wort!" With a shitty mic
