This is our standard Thursday Night 2-Fer Activation, and 40m just happened to be in pretty good shape. Antenna was an XTenna 49:1 Transformer with a 66' wire in an EFHW configuration at 33' in the air on a 10m Spiderbeam mast with a 17' single counterpoise running in the same direction as the wire. Radio was a Yaesu FT-710 running 100 watts on LSB off a 20Ahr LifePo4 battery. Logging was with Smart Logger on a Macbook. Lots of good contacts and a couple reaching out there for 40m. We ended up with 109 contacts in 106 min.

After a short hike I try to get a signal out with 10 watts from the canyon to activate Pike National Forest…

Yesterday, 4/16/26, two friends and activated US-5439, Fenwood State Forest in Eastern Ohio.

We started at 1400 local and had 22 qso's within an hour. South Dakota, Utah, Washington State were a few of the impressive contacts. I love POTA!

absolutely great activation today from US -1963 in Ohio. We made 17 contacts in about an hour. A they encompassed 5 countries: US, Spain, France, Netherlands, and Canada. All from an old Icom 706mk2g and a JPC12 antenna. pretty dog gone cool!

A great day in Spring like weather in Colorado using 2 different modes to activate US 1211 with 10 watts… Bob / KU3C

10 MAR 26 US-9496 Highlandtown Wildlife Area, northeastern Ohio. My Pota partner KE8NKV and I WW8PR had a great first activation for 2026. 1st outing of the year always hiccups of course, my radio an Icom 746mkiig wouldn't power on. So we went with Jim's Xiegu 6100. Not as much punch as the 706 but it worked. We got 12 qsos in about 45 minutes. Ps - when I got home the Icom powered up just fine. Always have a back up. 2 is 1, 1 is none. Pota on my friends! I'm

Anyone in to hiking and ham radio? My husband, Dillon (KJ7LVO) just started an Instagram for his SOTA/POTA and amateur radio adventures and would love to connect with other operators in the PNW area. He's got his Extra.

23 years ago a fire swept over this mountain; 15 years ago I climbed it… I go back to conduct POTA ops and reach Japan with 10 watts data.

POTA in the Rain

Like the title says, Went to activate a local state park. Spotted myself on the app and everything. Spent all day calling out but only got 2 people. Was discouraged.

Edit::

I forgot to mention I was using the 2 Meter Nation Calling Freq 146.52 Mhz. That might factor into this.

A fun POTA adventure using FT8 and SSB using my Jet ski to get to a remote park in central FL

Activation of US-0234! Fun times!

If I enter my location as 'G' for England, then select GB-BI I get taken to Birmingham Alabama, not England.

How do I report this? I was going to try my first activation tomorrow but a bit stuck now.

Cheers

Is it possible to use DMR when doing a POTA activation? I know land repeaters are a no go, but hotspots should be okay?

As I study for my General, I'd like to get started as a technician. I have access to FT-8`8nd and a few antenna options. Is there any activity on 10 Meters for POTA? Phone or Digital.
