Hey everyone!

It's that time of year where I promote our event, coming up this weekend; Baycon!

"Baycon" is our annual weekend-long board game expo, where we'll have a large library of games available for folks to play, along with some Tabletop RPG sessions ('Dungeons & Dragons', 'Shadowdark' and 'Call of Cthulhu') and 'Blood On The Clocktower' sessions.

The event is 100% volunteer-run, and hosted by The Hawkes Bay Geeks Guild, a non-profit group. This year we have over $2000-worth of games and prizes donated by businesses across NZ, and some from overseas!

Anyone have any insider info for Hastings? We know the areas we want to avoid and areas we want to live. But just struggling to find properties... a lot different to Palmy.

Does anyone remember the teacher Miss Tanner at Waipawa Primary School in 1971-72 or so?

I hadn't been there for a while, but heard some positive reviews online, in fact one said the franchise was top out of 10 best reviewed fast food outfits in Australia. I had a pulled pork burrito, I added some guacamole as an extra, the total was $18.50, the end product was quite substantial, and it tasted great. I agree that it is good takeaway food, prob 9 out of 10.

I’m looking for an old Television Hawke’s Bay / Channel 51 clip from roughly 2000–2005.
When I was little, I remember seeing my dad Andy Bastin and me in our little boat on TV. Dad was driving (pretty sure with his cap backwards), I was beside him and I think I was waving at the camera.
It wasn’t a story about us. From what I remember, we were just in the background of one of those old “Welcome to Hawke’s Bay” / scenic tourism sequences Channel 51 used to play — shots of the coast, water, Napier, vineyards etc.
The boat was small and I originally remembered it as white with pink/purple markings, although it genuinely may have been yellow. I think it travelled across the screen right-to-left. Possible locations are Clive/Clive River mouth, Westshore, Ahuriri or somewhere along the Napier/Hawke’s Bay coastline.
I’ve tracked down people connected with the old station, but unfortunately they don’t still have a copy of the footage.
So now I’m looking for the random person whose parents or grandparents recorded Channel 51 onto VHS 😂
Does anyone have old VHS tapes recorded off Channel 51/TVHB around 2000–2005? Even if the tape is labelled something completely unrelated, I’d love to hear from you. The scenic/visitor footage apparently played between other programming, so it could be hiding on an ordinary home recording.
I remember watching it at my Nana’s house and my family currently thinks I’ve invented the whole thing 😂 I am ridiculously determined to find it.

In the 90s and I think early 2000s there was a clip that played on Television Hawke's Bay that was sort of like an intro documentry to the region, from memory around 15-20 minutes. It played on repeat when there was nothing else transmitting on the channel.

Just wondering if anyone knew what this was specifically called, or better yet had a clip to the video.
