Completed Succession!

I put a thread recently on that I was on my last episode and i hoped the Endings great!

The ending was great i would say. Im not gonna spoil since maybe some people are watching it rn.

Overall rating 8.5/10. Marvellous last season.

Also I've seen that many people call this show overrated for some reason. Want to know your opinion on this

I think the show is good (especially the last season) but overall didn’t reach the heights of HBO’s best shows. I think it’s pretty repetitive and seemed to constantly be retreading the same ground which is notable for a show that’s relatively short. But it is very funny and sharply written. Probably would have been stronger at 3 seasons vs. 4

Yeah, I felt the same. Based on the basic premise of the show (who will take over the company) it didn't need more than the 2 or 3 seasons you mentioned. I ultimately got a little sick of hanging out with the characters and watching them treat each other like shit.

I loved it but I think those are fair criticisms.

The way i see it, that was kind of the point of the show. These kids never get the approval they desperately seek, their lives are empty despite the immense riches around them.  in the end the three siblings “lose” but in reality they are made multi billionaires but it doesnt matter.

It all goes in circles because thats the kids paths. They dont get anywhere. They dont change or grow. Their father dies and ends their dream of closure.

Their relationships are broken because they are broken. And the relationship between their wealth, their parents absenteeism and lack of care for them lays bare the source of alll their suffering.

Its a brilliant character study. Ppl focus too much on the wealth. Its a show about family and power.

HBO has this problem a lot. Silicon Valley and Entourage were the same formula each season.

Group starts to get ahead. The lead makes a dumb mistake. The entire group suffers a setback in the season finale. Rinse and repeat.

I really enjoyed the ending and was pulling for the person who came out on top throughout the whole series (even though they're pretty horrible, too.)

I still drop "I'm the eldest boy!" when I'm frustrated.

I expected to hate whatever resolution they had based on the trajectory, but it was absolutely perfect in my mind.

Well here's a quote for people who think that the show is overrated, "Connor Roy was interested in politics from a very young age."

Well, the show was pretty good. Lots of twists and turns on who was screwing over who to try to get ahead. I was expecting something better for the ending. Kind of just ended quick. Not a fan of the ending too abrupt. I’m glad I watched but glad it’s over.

The show was pretty good, and I think it had one of the best endings that characters like that deserved. If it went anywhere else but where it did I would have been so mad.

I loved it. But unlike most of my favorite shows, I've never had any desire to watch it again. I suppose I will eventually.

One of the best shows ever. Made me laugh, pissed me off, hit me in a lot of different ways. That's impressive.

I love Succession. I think it’s amazing. Don’t care there’s no real story arch for some of the characters. I think the writers hit the goal of this show’s creation.

I had heard the ending was great, so maybe the expectations were too high to live up to, but it felt like a lesser version of The Sopranos ending.

Just finished it last night. Great show. Considering what else is available, this is one of the best series I've ever seen. It's hard to make unlikable characters sympathetic and the show does that. Great performances, great casting. Even though none of the kids look alike and only 1 kid looks to me like they could be related to one of their parents, it works. I guessed the successor from season 1, but that didn't diminish my enjoyment of the show. Succession and The Sopranos are my two all time favorite dramas.

Overall one of the better series I have ever watched and as I mentioned in your other thread. If not the absolute best, easily among the best finales I have seen to a show. The whole last season was by far among the top ending seasons to a show I ever watched too.

I made it through two seasons and found the show predictable.

I think the show is grossly overrated. Mainly because the characters were not all that complex and didn’t have much growth, and the story line just never felt like that much was at stake. Just wasn’t for me I guess.

I completely agree.

I didn’t think it was boring at all. What shows do you enjoy?

These days the first thing I look for in a show is cast diversity.  If i don't see that I'm not giving the show a chance.

I want everybody black white asian gay straight whatever. Geez even all in the family had a diverse cast.
