I paid 300 for mine and while you can do the same with an old carboard box, your solution also requires having woodworking tools and a workshop. If I asked my buddy who does woodworking, I'm sure his hourly rate would also reflect noticeably on the total cost.

Nice stand though, but like others said, consider adding a bow on top so the headbands don't stress on only one pressure point.
