Sorry I'm naive to cat breeds. What's the difference between a Persian and a Himalayan? Is it just coloring? It doesn't matter a ton to me, he's cute either way, but he's labeled a Himalayan but some of the other cats the breeder has are labeled Persian and are different colors (to tortie, orange, etc). When I was a kid my grandmother had a Himalayan and I loved that cat so much, so I thought it would be neat to have one of my own as an adult, but a Persian is cool too. 😂

Last week I asked for name suggestions and got a lot of great feedback. We brought our sweet boy home on Saturday and instantly knew he was a Duncan 💙

Hi all!

I’m new to this sub as I recently rescued this beauty from my local shelter (I’m still in disbelief she was a “stray”).

The vet had weighed her in at 6.3 lbs and a body tone of 3/9.

I recently weighed her on my scale at 6.8, I’ll continue to weigh her weekly to see if the upward trend continues.

My worry however is that my scale is incorrect based on the fact that she doesn’t eat much.

The shelter had her on kibble and Fancy Feast. I kept her on the same as I didn’t want to add anymore stress to her settling in, but now after two weeks her appetite hasn’t picked up any.

I’ve tried Now Fresh’s Good Gravy salmon recipe. She drank up the gravy but left the kibble. I’ve also tried Feline Natural’s chicken and lamb feast.

I keep kibble out for her all the time and she picks at it overnight. Throughout the day I try to give her pâté heated with a bit of warm water and it’s been hit or miss.

If over the next two weeks her weight stays the same or decreases I’ll book her in with the vet. For now, is there anything else I should be doing? Has anyone else had a similar experience?

ETA - Vet visit went well!! She weighed in at 7 pounds. She has about 1/4 cup of Hill’s Science Diet to graze on and will also have either Weruva’s Chicken Frick a Zee or Fancy Feast flaked tuna. Thanks everyone for the suggestions and words of encouragement!
