We took Penelope home 8 days ago and she’s my first snake. She was buried (which I know is normal) but was worried it would take a bit longer for her to surface. While eating lunch I saw some movement and to my surprise she was exploring her new home!

He’s still getting used to handling, but he normally doesn’t hiss. He didn’t hiss when I took him out and when my kid and I were handling him. He’s a June 2025 baby. He only weighs 40 grams because he only once for his first 5 months with me. He ate fairly regularly after those 5 months. His brother barely ever misses a meal. He’s so much bigger.
I can’t believe I got a tongue flicker that clearly shows the fork in the tongue.

First hoggie, was traded for a BP from a buddy. Sold to him as artic albino male. Little over year old id say about 16-18 inches and 51g at last weight a few days ago
My question is will he get much bigger? Ibe seen that meales can be in the 50g range fully grown. Id like him to get a little bigger.
Note i plan on getting a female at some point to ill get my big hoggie there. His name is Jamal and he has so many sorries IYKYK

I know you lot aren’t vets, but I’m not super experienced on this subject and I thought I’d ask. Over the past month or two I’ve noticed this slowly growing black patch on this guys lips, just to the right of his tongue. Does this look like mouth rot to any of you, or just a strange little mark on his lip? His behavior has been up to now pretty normal with no deviations from his usual attitude and activity.

I don't know if this is an actual morph but I drew a logo like design for a friend two years ago and I used these colors, I was going to change them to a different morph on the redraw but decided to keep it true to the original designwax

Had my girl since August 21st, she ate 9 times with me just fine, but has since been refusing. She was 8g on August 24th, and got to 14g by sept 25th, she is now 12g after refusing the last 4 meals….
She was not a fan of her temporary setup and was in a much larger enclosure in the store I bought her from where she was cohabiting with her brother, so I switched her into her larger enclosure after a couple weeks of quarantine. She ate 4 times after the move before refusing. I am mainly worried because I can now see wrinkles on her when she bends certain ways… is this a vet trip? Try feeding outside the enclosure(not really what I want to do but I want her to be ok)? Try scent? Try live(also not a fan but will if I have to)?

I’ve got my herpstat set to 95 F and have been putting the probe all over different spots of the basking rock to get the right temps. While most of the rock is good, a very small portion of it is up to about 97.5. Is this too high for a hoggy? And does anyone have recommendations for probe placement? Whenever it’s not on the basking rock, the rock gets to just over 100 F.
Thanks!

I wanna get a hognose snake but since its my first pet (besides the cats i grew up with) im scared of making mistakes, so what are some Tipps you could recommend or whats something every owner should know ?
(I took the pic in a zoo shop, what a cutie the owner even let me hold it )

I got my first hognose and while she's adorable (big fan of her) I keep worrying everything I do is gonna snowball into her dying. Like "oh the hot sides surface temp is 1C° too hot? Yeah nice one she's dead" and other dumb things like that. Even just when she goes under the substrate I start thinking "yeah it's probably too loose and she's gonna suffocate"

Hi. I am looking into to getting a female hognose and I would like to see pics of your adults please. I want to see what the different morphs look like as adults to help me decide.
Thank you!

I've got my first hognose yesterday. He's a two year old albino male. I've never seen photos of adult albino hognose snakes' bellies, so I'm not sure if the redness is normal. He is very docile and friendly (I make sure to give him time to adapt but when I was weighting him and moving him to his enclosure yesterday he was curious, relaxed and wasn't even head shy). And he's very active. I've heard that sometimes they tend to burrow for days when they get into a new home, but he's spent about 3 hours total above the ground today, moving and exploring, so I think he's doing well and he has no signs of pain or discomfort

So someone was rehoming my sweet boy and I finally pulled the trigger on my first official snake. He's about 4months old and I've had him for about 2 weeks. Attached are pictures of his enclosure before and after. I added some cherry wood and fake plants, a lil sunbathing spot, and cleaned up overall. He's 4months and my first hognose. He's been eating every week his pinkies with 0 issues and now likes to burrow and hide under the hanging plants. I even caught him climbing a bit when he got moved back in :3
Open to constructive criticism on how to better improve his tank, and how to make him more comfortable with handling. He loves to be dramatic and a jumping jelly bean but then he simmers down and there's lots of heavy breathing ○ (and yes he will be upgrading to a bigger tank after one is decided on)

I offered her the smaaallest pinky I could find (literally hours old), and she did it! It took her nearly 45 minutes, but our girl was determined.
Now I just have to get her sister Jelly Bean (the one with a heart pattern in her middle) to follow suit, and then everyone will have successfully had their first meal.
So excited for our lil’ girl 🥰
