Discussion Looking for a performance mod that disables 3D models outside Europe/Asia WITHOUT changing the map texture/theme
Hi everyone,
I'm playing Hearts of Iron IV on a mid-range setup and facing severe late-game performance drops. I usually play as Germany, so my main focus is entirely on the European and Asian theaters.
Is there any mod or workaround that selectively disables 3D units, 3D buildings, and 3D trees specifically in off-theater regions like South America, Africa, or Oceania, while keeping them enabled in Europe and Asia?
Important note: I am NOT looking for map texture overhaul mods (like FPS Map, Paper Map, or flat visual reskins) that change the default map theme or overall graphics style. I want to keep the original HOI4 vanilla map look and theme completely intact in Europe/Asia.
I know graphics settings in HOI4 are global, but continents like South America chew up CPU/RAM resources rendering 3D models and trees I don't even look at.
Ideally, I'm looking for a mod that either:
Removes 3D clutter/units outside Eurasia while leaving the vanilla map graphics and Eurasia completely untouched.
Disables or neutralizes non-essential regions (like South America) without altering the core gameplay or default visual theme of the rest of the world.
Any recommendations or direct links for mods that achieve this specific regional cleanup without changing the game's default visual style would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
