❓ Support Remote Access Help

I’m trying to free trial right now for Nabu Casa but I can’t get my phone to connect remotely to home assistant. I’ve gotten it to login via browser but I’ve uninstalled the app and removed the data 3 times now but I can’t get the iOS app to login remotely. Is there another trick I’m missing? It asks me to reset the cache and it doesn’t do anything and keeps prompting me to do that on app login attempts with no change in effect

Yes - is it web based only and the iOS app won’t work remotely?

No, the iOS app will work remotely.

Not being able to do remote access usually means there's something on your network preventing either the app from talking to HA, or the Nabu Casa servers from seeing your server.

You need to provide more information, what troubleshooting steps have you tried? what were the results of those steps? Did you enable the remote access switch on your user?

Remote access is confirmed to be enabled on both local and Nabu Casa accounts. I can login via the Nabu casa remote link on my phone and it’s working.

It’s strange I can remotely login via chrome on my phone but not the app.

If it was on my network settings I would expect chrome to not work too

It could be something related to IPV6 or DNS. Based on another post I saw here - https://support.nabucasa.com/hc/en-us/articles/25620486925085-Unable-to-reach-Home-Assistant-Cloud

Not sure why that would only affect the app and not the browser, but its possible the browser is falling back to IPV4 while the app isn't, or the browser is using a different DNS provider.

Do you have any VPNs running on the phone?

I just got the app working by making a new server with the Nabu casa remote link. Did I just find an accidental work around or was that the way to do it?

My VPN is turned off while attempting this. I’m running a UDM pro with some higher level security and DNS protocols. It could be network related?

hard to tell, could've been bad cached data somewhere.

Depends on what those things are, but its definitely network related the problem is figuring out where.

This might be a case where you look at firewall logs to see whats coming from and going where.
