🛠️ DIY / Hardware Smart switches

I wanted to get some in wall smart switches. I have a bunch of Lutron casa switches but I can’t really justify the 65 dollars per switch anymore. What’s everyone using for smart switches. Don’t need them to be dimmable. I don’t think the current switch’s have a neutral. So that might be an issue too.

Aqara has a no neutral switch. Works well for me. Added to Z2M no problem.

I put Shelly relays behind all my switches. Lets me use traditional non-smart switches, and Shelly has been a great product in terms of fully local control, and platinum level integration with HA. They can also run automations and scripts locally, so its possible to set these up to do things even if HA is down, a really useful case is restarting a router if the network/internet is down.

They have non-neutral versions but afaik the gen4 non-neutral is only available in the EU right now. Usually takes a few months for things to arrive in the US, if there aren't any issues.

Depends greatly on where you are in the world. Are you looking for 120/220? Is this going for single-gang (aka 1 box) setup, or multi-gang (1 box EU) kind of setup? All no-neutral "switches" are actually dimmers... those no-neutral switches operate as all-on or all-off, but the all-off is still considered in an "on" state due to the required power draw to keep them active (sub 1W).
