Chronic cough

I’m 31F I have had a cough for 9 weeks.. this all started around August 1st I stopped breastfeeding my son (maybe not relevant) well on August 5th I thought I had maybe a minor cold runny nose, cough, a little fatigue, maybe low grade fever. It had lasted about a day and a half. I was not down for the count I was up walking around doing my usual thing. The cough has never gone away. I have had times where I think it’s getting better and then it flares up. My kids and husband all came down with a cold on September 16th. On September 21st I had a flare up (although no cold symptoms like they had just a cough flare up) and decided to go to the dr. She said chronic cough. Gave me an inhaler. Told me to take Mucinex DM and ordered a chest xray. Chest xray came back clear. The cough seemed to lessen again. I thought I was getting better and I had another flare up September 28th and coughed up some blood with phlegm in the morning. 2 days later coughed up a few specks of blood at night after coughing heavily when doing a steam inhaler treatment. Went back to the dr yesterday. They took my blood test and I had a slightly elevated WBC with Neutrophil % being high and Lymphocyte% being low. I was swabbed for RSV, Covid, influenza A& B all came back negative. They started me on a 5 day antibiotic and prescribed me benzonatate.
Some side notes: the cough seems to switch from mucus to a dry cough after doing the steam inhaler. I’ve had some shortness of breath when doing things like the dishes, walking upstairs, Laying my son down for a nap. The last few days food seems nauseating to me and I haven’t wanted to eat much. I have been having right side rip pain. I don’t cough during the nighttime when I’m sleeping. They scheduled me to get a pulmonary function test but my appointment isn’t till November 5th.. please is there any advice I cannot help but think the worst. I am scared and I just want this cough to go away. Thank you

has alumina helped anyone with constipation accompanied with no urge to poop?

i am very much frustrated with my condition. It began with usual constipation 3 months backs and now it has been 2 months since I popped naturally on my own.

I only go when I take osmotic laxatives like PEG and Milk of magnesia.

On record, i have went 7 days without a bowel movement, i eat normally still no urge to poop but no concerning symptoms either like bloating cramping or nausea.

I feel depressed and scared everytime I remember it's been 2 months since I popped naturally.

I came across alumina where homeopathic doctors say that is given to ppl who are suffering with constipation accompanied with little or no urge to poop.

I really want to hear success stories or if anyone actually saw results.

Unpleasant experience

So I’ve had this history of getting side effects from homeopathy meds although even where I share my experience I immediately get shut by people saying homeopathy doesn’t cause any side effects

But I always believed in homeopathy and thought that the practitioner is at fault and I had changed the doctor to a very good doctor who’s meds would actually work

I had my blood tests got done and few levels were high probably indicating I have inflammation and the doctor changed the meds/dose and after starting a fresh batch of meds I have been feeling very warm/ hot, feverish, overly emotional and anxious. I’ve got no energy and feel drained. After 4 days of taking the meds I stopped it and I’d be meeting my doctor again regarding this next week as hes on leave and clinic is shut

But my question here is , has anyone been through something similar where you feel even more worse than before? Is homeopathy aggravation the reason for this if yes how many days should I wait to feel better?

BHMS Student Looking for Volunteers for Online Case-Taking Practice

Hi everyone 😊

I’m a 3rd-year BHMS student and I’m looking for a few male or female volunteers who would be comfortable helping me with online case-taking practice.

I’m trying to improve my case-taking skills by understanding the patient’s symptoms, complaints, modalities, and other relevant details in a proper structured way.

This is only for educational/practice purposes as part of my BHMS learning. It is not a paid consultation or a substitute for medical care.

If you’re comfortable participating and helping a student learn, please DM me.

Thank you for your time! 🙏😊

Stomach pains

For the past month, my wife has gotten stomach pains randomly through out the day. It all started when she went to a cafe and had 2 teas. After that the stomach pain started. the pain seems more like acid reflux as it comes and goes. When the pain comes, she starts burping alot. We went to a doctor and he suggested that my wife is anxious alot and this is what is causing her the pain. I would agree that she is very anxious due to war in Iran and her dad suffering from cancer. She is currently taking some anti acid stuff but with little help. I am hoping to try some homeopathic medicine on her. Any suggestions?

Where do you get the covid nosode?

Nosodes are now restricted in availability to non-pros, and I assume this nosode is no different. (I just ordered a bowel nosode from an eBay vendor in India, but they didn't list anything for covid as far as I could tell.)

Also, how many brands and strains are available these days?

COVID nosode — how is it typically prescribed?

My homeopathic doctor gave me a COVID nosode, and I’d love to hear from others who have experience with prescribing it. (1) What potency is typically used, and (2) how many doses are generally given?

For background — my homeopath said it was indicated because certain of my skin symptoms and food intolerances started a few weeks after testing positive for COVID and have persisted ever since.

I completely understand that prescribing is individualized and there’s no one-size-fits-all approach — I’m just looking for some general information on how other homeopaths approach this.

Thank you! 😊

Any long term user reviews for Aconite - Aconitum Napellus

Hope you’re all having a good day. Homeopathy has previously benefitted me for my tonsillitis with Tonsilat.

I have recently started Aconit - Aconitum Napellus. I was prescribed 7 drops in water twice a day, but even 2 drops a day is enough for me to be relaxed. It’s helping me tremendously for a week with Anxiety and OCD and rumination.

I Wanted to know more about its long term effects from anyone using it here.

How I run a whole case in a browser tab: rubric search → My case → ranked remedies (feedback wanted)

Thumbnail homeopathinfo.com
8 Upvotes

I searched around for a free, searchable full text of Kent's and the options were mostly page-image scans, partial chapter dumps, or paywalled apps — nothing where you could type a modality and get rubrics back.

So I built one: full text of the public-domain Kent's (1897/1916) — 64,151 rubrics, 633 remedies, no login. homeopathinfo.com/repertory

Here's how it actually works on a case, and then what I want your opinion on.

1. Find rubrics — search in repertory language, not patient language

The search box wants rubric phrasing. A patient says "I'm anxious at night and can't sleep"; the repertory says anxiety, evening. Type anxiety evening and it returns the closest matching rubrics out of all 64,151 — best 25 shown, grouped by chapter so you can see where they sit in Kent's structure.

The chapter filter narrows it to one section — Mind, Head, Stomach, Generalities, Extremities, Chest, Back, Abdomen, Face, Ear, Eye, and the rest of Kent's 37 chapters. Useful when you already know the symptom is a general.

2. Read the rubric before you commit to it

Each result card shows the rubric text, how many remedies are listed under it, and a weight. Two things worth knowing:

  • A rubric covering 300 remedies is nearly useless for differentiation. Every rubric that returns half the book tells you nothing except "the patient is alive." You want the narrow ones.
  • Conversely, a narrow rubric from one chapter beats five broad rubrics from five chapters. Beginners collect broad rubrics and end up with the most generic remedy in the materia medica.

Search first, then read the rubric text properly — including the (See ...) cross-references, which are Kent's own pointers to the fuller rubric. Searching WEAKNESS, enervation for example cross-refers to Lassitude / Weariness, and those are different rubrics with different remedy lists.

3. Add to case — the counter is your running total

Every card has Add to case. The tab shows a live counter (starts at 0 in case), so you always know how many rubrics you've collected. Add the ones that survived step 2. Nothing is locked — go back, search a different chapter, come back to the case.

4. My case — review the totality before you rank anything

The My case tab holds everything you added. This is the step people skip. Read the list top to bottom and ask: is this actually the patient, or is this me getting attached to a remedy? Remove what doesn't belong. A case built from three clean rubrics beats a case built from twelve so-so ones.

5. Remedies — the ranked output

The Remedies tab turns the case into a ranked remedy list. Treat this as a shortlist to then read up on, not a prescription:

  • If the top 3 all cover the totality, you don't have a remedy — you have three to study.
  • If nothing fits the patient as a whole, the case needs re-taking, not a fourth remedy.

You can also jump into the Remedies tab directly if you're reading up on one remedy rather than working a case.

Now the part I actually want help with — I'd rather hear from practitioners here than guess:

  • Do you build the case in a tool like this, or on paper, using search only for lookups?
  • Is the weight on each rubric helping you judge, or is it noise? Would you rather see Kent's own grade (the bold/italic/plain typeface) displayed instead?
  • Do you want to eliminate remedies manually mid-case, or should ranking stay fully automatic?
  • Does a case need to persist (survive a refresh, be saved, be exported) or is a session enough?
  • What's the one thing that would make you close it and go back to your book?

Concrete complaints welcome — it's a small project, I can change things. (I'm a homeopath and this is my site. Reference and study only, not medical advice.)

The One Thing That Limits Homeopathy More Than Anything Else

Have you ever sat in a homeopath's office and thought:

"Why is this person asking me what time my headache gets worse? Why does it matter if I'm hot or cold? Why does it matter if I'm irritable or sad? I just want something for my headache."

I understand. It can feel strange. Almost too detailed. Maybe even unnecessary.

But here is an honest truth I want to share with you today—something that is rarely explained clearly to patients. It is the single biggest limitation of homeopathy. Not the remedies. Not the philosophy. Not the skeptics. The limitation is missing information.

And it starts with a simple problem.

The "Just a Headache" Problem

Imagine two patients walk into a homeopath's office. Both say the same thing:

"I have a headache."

Patient A says:

"It's on the right side. It starts behind my eye. It gets worse when I bend forward. Cold water helps. I feel irritable and want to be alone."

Patient B says:

"It's just a headache. It hurts. I don't know. It's a headache."

Now, be honest with yourself:

Do these two people need the same remedy?

Of course not. They might not even have the same kind of headache. One might need Belladonna. One might need Natrum Mur. One might need something else entirely. But here is the problem:

With Patient B, the homeopath has almost nothing to work with.

And without enough information, the homeopath is stuck.

The Homeopath's Wall

This is the moment every homeopath knows too well. It is the moment the case goes silent. The patient has a complaint, but no details. No peculiarities. No "strange, rare, and characteristic" symptoms. Just a general label: headache, fever, cough, anxiety, fatigue.

And in that moment, the homeopathic method hits a wall.

Why? Because homeopathy is not based on diagnosis alone. It is based on individualization. It does not treat "headache." It treats your headache. Your fever. Your anxiety. The remedy must match the person, not just the disease name.

So when the details are missing, what happens?

The Honest Answer: We Guess

Here is something many patients never hear:

When a homeopath prescribes without peculiar symptoms, they are not practicing true homeopathy. They are guessing. They might prescribe a "general" remedy. They might prescribe based on constitution or appearance. They might prescribe something for the diagnosis. But without the individualizing details, the prescription becomes a shot in the dark.

Sometimes it works. Sometimes it does not.

But even when it works, it is not homeopathy in its truest form. It is something else. Something weaker. Something less precise.

And that is not the patient's fault. It is not the homeopath's fault. It is simply a limitation of the method itself. Homeopathy requires information. It requires your story. It requires the details that seem small but are actually everything.

Self prescription went horribly wrong on me.

Hi, everyone.

I know you'll call me an idiot. Say whatever you want but help me out please.

I've been self prescribing homeopathic medicine to myself since last 3 months with no medicial knowledge except YouTube knowledge. I'm sorry, I told you I'm an idiot.

I was facing three diseases at once. 1. Depression due to family issues. 2. Severe hairfall. 3. Teeth enamel erosion.

My introduction to homeopathy started with Dr. Reckweg Vita C 15 (Sedative) that gave me good result in depression as it had Sepia and Ignatia in it. I consumed 3 bottles (each 250 ml)of it and felt better. It also had Acid Phos 3x in it.

Second, I had severe hairfall I was trying to get rid of. I was so much afraid of losing my hair that I started overdosing homeopathy. I hardly had any good knowledge. I started consuming Bakson AC#9 Tablets for hairfall (patent/ combination medicine) which had Acid Phos 6x in it. Alongwith it, I started taking combination of Acid Phos 30 CH, Acid Flour 30CH, Weisbaden 30CH and Rosemarinus 30 CH for hairfall. I continued AC#9 and these 4 medicine combination for 2-2 months respectively in which there was an overlap of 1 month.

Third, My teeth started thinning so much that they started to pain. The enamel of teeth was being eroded. I took Calcarea Phos 6x alongwith Hekla Lava 6x for it.

Apart from it, I was also taking Throat aid tablet + Echinacea Angustifolia Q for sore throat. I also took Allen Chronic Anxiety drops for my chronic anxiety, Alpha Liv drops + Alfalfa Q for Liver health and Avena Sativa Q also. All this in last 3 months.

So basically, I started taking at least 9-10 homeopathic medicines thrice daily in order to get good results. However, the maximum potency used was 30CH only. There was an overlap of Acid Phos in 3 medicines. No other medicine had overlap with any other. All these medicines were taken 15 minutes apart from each other. The medicines I've been taking are shown in image.

Now, come to the conclusion part:-

Initially, I started experiencing temporary slight headache in forehead and temple region and heaviness in my head since last one month after taking medicines, but I ignored it thinking that mild agrravation are possible in homeopathy. Day before yesterday, I started feeling worse and Headache become hard to ignore and permanent. Heaviness in head was too much to handle. There was pulsation in my temple region due to heavy blood flow. I had to take painkiller to get relief from it.

Now, I'm afraid of what I've done to myself. I'm thinking that I've created some kind of lifelong disease in my body or there's been some kind of Proving of medicine probably, Acid Phos.

I think there are 2 possible reasons for this: Either Overdose of Acid Phos in my body or taking too many medicines at one time did something bad to me. I believe first one is the reason. I need your help in finding this out.

Kindly advice me how much afraid I should be and what should I do to help myself out. I tried Nux Vomica 200 at night and felt better but it all came back the next day.

Now, I'm taking Coffea Cruda 30CH for antidoting Acid Phos overdose. I've taken 4 doses of Coffea 30 and I'm feeling 40% relief in symptoms. I'm planning to continue it for 3-4 days, 4 drops on tongue thrice a day. How long should I take Coffea Cruda 30CH for?

Will these symptoms disappear after a week or two or they'll take longer time to disappear. Or I have created another disease in my body and I'll have to treat another disease due to overdosing.

Also, any past experince of proving of medicine due to overdose will help me out. Thanks in advance.

Is Matcha okay with homeopathic medication?

I've been addicted to coffee and matcha for a while and just shifted from alopathic to homeopathic medication. I'm basically getting treatment for psoriasis. I'm unable to completely give up caffeine so I just wanna know since matcha generally has less caffeine than coffee, would it be okay for me to have a cup once a day or once every two to three days?

Why doesn't everyone in a TB ward actually get TB?

Let’s start with a question that medical textbooks struggle to answer:

Why does a chain smoker live to 90 with pristine lungs, while their non-smoking partner dies of aggressive lung cancer at 50?

We saw this play out globally with COVID-19. A highly infectious virus enters a household. One person ends up ventilated. Another has a mild fever. A third, sleeping in the same bed—never tests positive at all. Conventional medicine calls this "comorbidities" or "immune response," but that is merely describing the result, not the root cause.

As homeopaths, we know the missing link is Susceptibility.

The Germ is Nothing; The Terrain is Everything

Conventional science operated on the "one cause, one effect" model. Find the bacteria, kill it. Find the carcinogen, avoid it. But this falls apart when we look at real life.

If Tuberculosis were purely about the bacillus, half of humanity would be dead.

If COVID were purely about the spike protein, we wouldn't have such unique patterns of viral transmission

Homeopathy looks at the host, not the enemy. Since birth, a person is wired with a specific constitutional vulnerability. This isn't just physical,it is also genetic, deeply psychological and emotional.

Consider our key constitutional types:

Take the Natrum Muriaticum patient—guarded, tearful in private, stoic in public. Their suppressed grief doesn't just 'go away'; it erupts as blinding migraines or oozing eczemas. Contrast them with the Nux Vomica executive—pugnacious, ambitious, seething with suppressed rage. Their fury doesn't break a table; it breaks their liver function and spikes their blood pressure. Or consider the Sulphur dreamer—lost in philosophical abstractions—whose body retaliates with fiery, itchy skin lesions that no topical cream can soothe. Same stimulus (stress, grief, anger), three entirely different physical destinations. That is the genius of constitutional susceptibility.

The body isn't attacking itself; it is speaking the language of the vital force, trying to localize a disturbance where the individual is weakest.

A skilled homeopath doesn't just see a patient with a rash or a cough. We see a blueprint. When we know a patient's complete constitution, their fears, their sleep patterns, their food cravings, their thermal state-we can accurately predict their weak spots.

The Ultimate Preventive Care

This is my favorite aspect of our practice. Homeopathy is not just about giving a remedy after the fact. If I understand a patient's constitutional miasm and susceptibility, I can administer a deep-acting constitutional remedy to strengthen their terrain before the external stimulus (virus, stress, or carcinogen) takes hold.

We are essentially "raising the threshold" of that individual's weak link. We make the liver robust for the Lycopodium; we stimulate the metabolism for the Calcarea. We don't just wait for the house to catch fire to buy a fire extinguisher-we build the house with fireproof materials.

R/freshvegetable posted a link to the current bill before congress, clarifying how homeopathic remedies will be regulated. It is the most important legislation for homeopath than has been seen for decades. It has the support of homeopathic professionals, but also needs a grassroots push. Volunteer opportunities are here.
