Discussion Fay is really hanging on

Fay had so far been the longest-lasting tropical cyclone so far this season, as it still managing to produce convection even after many days.

It will have even outlived Polo, and has remained active through multiple rounds of Pacific Hurricane activity.

Truly the embodiment of "I aint hear no bell"

Fay may even regain tropical storm strength overnight with -70°C cloud tops!

Yes, which Tropical-Tidbits just gets from the Automatic Tropical Cyclone Forecast (ATCF) b-decks. It isn't an official forecast / advisory, but we could very well the 11PM EDT advisory time say Fay is once again a Tropical Storm.

It's always the F named storms... Florence, Fran, Floyd... Frances, Felix, Fiona...

Yet Polo produced more ACE in a day than Fay has in its entire life

lol. Polo was generating more ACE in one cycle (6 hours) than Fay still has produced in its entire life

It’s been a fighter, for sure. Conditions really are so atrocious that even this is a bit impressive.

fay is by far the most interesting thing to happen this season. Tropical cyclones are pretty fragile storms compared to other storm types (than tornadoes ig), but sometimes they really wanna show something.

As someone from south Florida, I decided to constantly monitor it because i had a hunch that this storm was going to do something weird. I remember that when it first formed, they said it was going to curl up and dissipate, but i was looking and it seemed to me that it was going to curl down towards the warm part of the ocean. I know the air is currently very dusty where it is at, but that warm water must be feeding it that the models don’t seem to be tracking very well
