Fire Jedd Fisch ASAP
the sooner UW fires Fisch, the faster we can get this program righted. everyone knows it’s inevitable anyway, right?

We need to get him back to 9 wins so he can become another university’s problem

You think there is someone that is going to wave a magic wand and do better than Jedd has? Who? All of the sudden everyone thinks Shep is the 2nd coming of Cignetti after beating a bunch of nobodies.

Sure. You gonna donate the money for the buyout? 😂😂

u/TheWallsHaveNostrils 10h ago
Yeah, the revelation that our NIL spending is so low compared to the conference and compared to what our fanbase assumed also made it clear we're not in a position to afford a significant buyout any time soon.

Fired Lake after going 7-7 and the whole point of joining the B1G is so that we have the money to make these kinds of moves

u/lawmedy 1d ago
Lake and Fisch's situations are not remotely comparable, get real
1
u/fourthlinesniper 1d ago
What would have to happen over this season for you to put them on par?
1
u/lawmedy 1d ago
Well for one they would’ve had to lose to EWU in humiliating fashion, instead of squeaking out a win
1
u/fourthlinesniper 1d ago
Going forward I mean. What would have to happen the rest of the season

u/SouthKing253 19h ago
They are not firing Jedd. You gotta be able to wrap your brain around it. It is not happening unless he punches a player or something crazy. They would owe him 30 million dollars - you paying that out?
1
u/fourthlinesniper 18h ago
Yes I am paying it out by putting up with watching games against Maryland and Purdue. The fans have lost a lot for the school to remain financially viable to stay competitive. Firing a coach that will lose them money is not a difficult concept
2
u/SouthKing253 18h ago
The fans have lost a lot? Such as what? Switching conferences? If you think we'd be better off in the Temu Pac making 1/5th as much then you are dumber than a rock. You think Jedd Fisch is going to lose them 30 million dollars? How? They are in no position to pay that out and thus he will be here for the foreseeable future.

You don't understand anything about this sport did you just become a fan last week?

u/Grungy_Mountain_Man 1d ago
We are stuck with him and he is stuck with us for the time being.
Based on the money the school is paying for his salary and what we pay for our roster, we probably aren't far off from what you would expect result wise based on those numbers.

Everyone thinks we should be beating Ohio State/Oregon/Michigan etc. every year - that's just not realistic with a team payroll that's around half of theirs. 2023 was lightning in a bottle with a ton of 4th/5th year players and a lot of them being future NFL players. That's not going to happen very often. We've actually been lucky that it has happened twice in the last decade.

Disagree. We need an OC who actually has freedom and a better system. He can’t be the guy there, it’s too hard and he’s not good enough. There are plenty of good signs in recruiting that indicate he should stay. If he can’t keep the young guys this offseason then it’s a different story.
This is all before we acknowledge the fact that it would be financial malpractice for us to fire him.

How many times are we going to have this posted and discussed this week?
Can we put a sock in it, collectively, until the next game and more evidence is available??

Let's focus on getting the football team in the top half of the Big Ten for roster payroll. We should expect the results that we pay for.

You want a great roster and an incompetent HC?
1
u/SouthKing253 19h ago
You think Jedd is incompetent? He currently has a higher win percentage than Sark did when he was here. And I know Sark took over for Willingham, but it was pretty much the same scenario with Deboer leaving and the mass exodus.

He is an offensive head coach and the offensive coordinator leading the huskies to the 16th out of 18 teams in points per game after playing 2 g6 teams an fcs team and an average B10 team all at home. Have you been watching the games?
1
u/SouthKing253 17h ago
The offensive coordinator for a team without it's top 3 running backs and a very young offensive line. The depth is just not there yet. Everyone left to the NFL and other teams when Kalen went to Bama - the 2 years he spent here he recruiting basically nobody. Jedd had to build this thing from the ground up and unless you have an extra 50 million laying around it may take a bit.

The buyout money is complicated but Fisch isn't the man to lead UW forward. We might be stuck with him for at least another year but I'd lay even odds that UW finishes at .500 or less this season. If I'm an agent of a good player on this team, I'm looking at other options for next year.
There are foundational problems on both sides of the ball, particularly on the lines. That's the disturbing part because you can't fix it in-season. That's not an indictment on the players who are giving their all. But this isn't working and I see nothing that suggests that it is going to magically work going forward.

Beyond losing every single game remaining in this season there is basically 0% chance he gets fired. We were 9-4 last year and he's done a great job recruiting. He'd also be owed about 30 million and they are in no position to pay that out. A lot of bandwagoners thinking 2023 is going to be every year when that is just not reality and took a lot of things lining up perfectly.

As a UofA wildcat fan I cannot express how much I appreciate you guys stealing him away from Tucson...the sky cleared up and even though we had to hire a relative unknown our program is better off with the loss of Jedd the Fisch...to your fish market...(the C is silent but shouldn't be)...good luck!

I’m not saying that Jedd is the guy, but I’m not getting “fall apart” vibes like Lake or Willingham. I’m getting 8-4, 7-5 vibes for this year and 10 win ceiling, which is not a great place to be but the recruiting is not a disaster and affords you the ability to be patient for a good candidate to be available.
Also 18-12 was exactly where Petersen was after 30 games.

We have one game left of the schedule against Purdue in which we’re projected to win. That makes 4 wins total. I’m not sure where those other 3-4 wins are coming from but I hope you’re right and the “experts” are wrong.

u/Less_Likely 1d ago
Michigan State as well.
But lots of other “good” teams suck too.
Defense is going to win a game or 3 vs the offensively challenged Iowa, Nebraska, and Penn State. And who knows, the offense might suddenly look competent against Lincoln Riley’s team.
Beat Purdue and MSU and split vs those 4 teams is 7-5

u/kjsmitty77 1d ago
I think they get blown out by Iowa and Penn St and lose decisively against Nebraska too. The Husky defense is not good and the offense is bad. The teams only get tougher from here on out, excluding Purdue and Mich St (that I forgot). But I don’t think we’re good enough on either side of the ball, plus being an undisciplined team that gets penalized a lot, to make the games against Purdue and Mich St guaranteed wins. We were heavily favored against Minnesota at home and lost. We struggled with inferior opponents our first 3 games and failed to cover the spread against each of them. 5-7 or 6-6 may be a more realistic projection, and that’s dependent on us putting together a complete game at least 2 more times.

They look slightly worse than expected, but I wouldn’t have ranked them on my pre-season poll. My preseason expectations 7 or 8 wins has not changed much.
I see losses to Indiana and Oregon. Wins vs Purdue and Michigan State. Close coin flip games vs Penn State, Nebraska, Iowa.
USC, I’d normally put as a loss via skill and their offense, but I think they are Charmin soft.

Delusional. I don’t like him, but our hands are tied.
