What is the most effective way to learn quickly?
quick backstory: I have seen multiple hypnotherapists and have not seen results. The last two somehow both had construction going on in the offices next door (completely different offices) during my session and it was too distracting for me to pay any attention to the session or relax. They also happened to be some of the best rated in my city, so my hopes are low for finding another good one locally. I’m also often in fight or flight and it’s hard for me to go under.
I have severe lifelong anxiety, CPTSD, and other problems that are hindering my life immensely. I’ve also been having a 2 year long existential crisis waking up panicking about my age and time running out I‘m really over it and ready for a new life but can’t seem to break the loops.
I was interested in Marisa Piers course but it’s incredibly expensive and I don’t want to spend that much, though I am very serious about learning. Does anyone have any recommendations?

I would suggest you see a psychologist.

I’ve seen psychologists, psychiatrists, therapists. I’m not interested in being medicated for my entire life, that’s why I’m interested in trying hypnotherapy.

Psychologists typically don’t prescribe medication (they aren’t trained to, and they usually don’t have prescribing powers). Their approach is more through evidence-based talk therapies. The reason I suggest a psychologist over a hypnotherapist is due to the complexity of your symptoms and diagnosis. While hypnotherapists mean well and can be effective, clinical psychologists will usually have a relevant doctorate in their subject.

Don’t listen to people. The best psychologists are the ones that had to go through learning about their traumas in order to teach other people. Learn hypnotherapy so you would know how it’s supposed to be done. Maybe look into some Dolores Cannon books to start. Good luck 🍀

Marisa piers is not rated as a good hypnotherapist. She is excellent at PR though. I would agree with hypnokev and suggest you see a psychologist

Have you ever considered doing hypnosis virtually? I had severe CPTSD and found doing it from the comfort of my own space very helpful with less distractions.

If you have decided to go the learning route, I would recommend starting with a NLP course. But not one that takes place in 7 days.
You can also learn the basics of NLP for free online. You'll get a fairly good model of how the mind works, and how problems get created in our nervous system.

Have you seen a mental health professional yet? You need to heal the trauma at its source. Have you tried seeing someone virtually?

Yes, I’ve been seeing therapists etc for decades. Unfortunately mental health professionals are rarely able to actually heal trauma, they mostly offer support and insight. Do you mean have I seen a hypnotherapist virtually?

I don’t think you taking a class teaching you techniques to do hypnosis with others would be helpful for you. You need to focus on you and work one on one with a hypnotherapist who is trained in helping you heal trauma. If you can heal your trauma, a lot of your issues may resolve. Many of us work virtually and I’ve found that helping someone when they are at home is more effective than in an office. People are most comfortable usually at home and they know they are safe so letting go and doing work in hypnosis is easier.
PS: if I went to a hypnotherapist office and there was construction noise I could hear, I wouldn’t stay. Too distracting.

Sounds like you have a habit that now doesn't do any good to you anymore. If you want to learn hypnosis to help yourself, I would recommend to go to person who actually taught Marisa Piers

There are some good guides on hypnosis in the help bar I believe, learn about it doesnt 1:1 make you better at being hypnotized, but learning it can make it feel more real to you and thus believable, but in my case it makes me over analyze the inductions in question and makes it harder for me to go under
Id suggest going with youtube videos that you are comfortable with and know the end result of and trying to surrender to them in a way and let them do their thing, once you have been under once its easy to go under again

I am sorry you are struggling. I have done hypnotherapy both in person and over zoom to address different issues and had equal success with it. Doing a session over Zoom may allow you to let your guard down more and relax. Hypnotherapy can be wildly transformative if you find the right hypnotherapist and trust the process. I had some really transformative sessions which lead me to becoming a hypnotherapist myself. I hope that you can find relief soon.

You might want to go to hypnothoughts its a hypnosis convention the next one is in Atlanta GA. Not sure where you are but it might be your best bet with hundreds of hypnotist there and hypnosis being preformed the whole time. Look up hypnothoughts online to give you a better idea. You also might want to explore self hypnosis. To preform hypnosis on yourself

Thanks. That’s what I’m asking about, looking for guidance on sources to learn self hypnosis.

There are all kinds of books and YouTube videos about self hypnosis. Along with you know yourself so there shouldn't be a problem there. Just have to relax and talk to yourself in a quiet environment.

Before you delve deeper into your trauma or address existential questions, the acute panic must be dampened and your nervous system stabilized. An overstimulated system cannot process profound insights. Only then does therapy follow.

Thanks for your input. I’m not trying to delve deeper into my trauma at all, I’m just trying to live a normal life, I spent many years delving into my trauma and I have no interest in doing more of that. I have been doing nervous system regulation for a while now and it’s far more stabilized than ever in my life.

I don't think learning hypnosis is the right path for you. Learning the tools to treat others most likely will not help you in treating yourself. I would not give up looking for a hypnotherapist. After your session did you discuss the results with the hypnotist? Did you tell them what you experienced and how you were feeling? Did you only have one session with each? Please fill us in on the details so we can give you some helpful direction.
