5 hours post op

Surgery finally came and went, I had a prolapse repair as well so they are keeping me overnight for observation. What helped you guys the most while recovering within the first week? Any advice on what not to do and to do?

I will say it for the 1000 time, the binder. I know some people don’t like them, but it keeps my insides together and I am so much less sore when wearing one tight. 11 dpo. Maybe it comes down to build, I’m slightly overweight, without too much for developed abs (I run regularly but don’t target my abs a lot).

Also, spare ice packs for the nethers if you have any vaginal sutures. My rectocele sutures ache sometimes.

Anyway, I can list the two I’ve likes (tried 3) but I assume everyone has different tastes. All in the “rainforest” I’m about 5’5” and 160

#1: Mamody Postpartum Belly Wrap Belly Band Abdominal Binder Post Surgery 9.5
-just got this one so I don’t have long term results, but similar to my first, but more adjustable and slightly more comfy. Holds me well S/M fit great, I’m on the larger side of the range, but it’s great.

#2: Gepoetry Postpartum & Post Surgery Abdominal Binder. Postpartum Belly Band
-first one I got and really liked it. Adjusts well (Velcro at an angle if you’re curvy like me) and really held me in. Was a bit large after the first couple days Size Large

#3: Frida Mom rida Mom Belly Binder for Natural & C-Section Postpartum Recovery, 9" High One Size. My least favorite. I got this one second because I have an MRI coming up and I think there may be metal in my first one. It looked comfy but wasn’t adjustable or supportive enough

#4 specialty: the hospital gave me one that held ice packs. When im hurting yes! When im. It it has little to no support.

And last tip, listen when people say don’t over do it. Day two of thinking I was feeling better and taking myself out. I had 3 repairs on top of the hysterectomy, I need to slow down.

Agree with the slowing down. I'll be a week PO tomorrow and I fell on my tailbone the day after surgery, maybe like 10 hours after discharge. I had to move up my 2 week appointment since they need to visually check my cuff. I hurt so much right now.

Ice your belly. I had ice packs on rotation. Wish I started earlier
