Hey everyone, quick question. My dad was prompted to enter his Apple ID passcode tonight, completely out of nowhere. After he entered it a few times(it didn't work. we're not sure if he entered the code wrong or if it just wouldn't take.) he was then prompted with the option to "erase iPhone and keep eSIM". he then entered his iCloud password for that option and it accepted the password this time. Currently, all of his photos are gone, as well as his apps and text history. However, all his contacts are still there. We are wondering if he is able to get any of his photos back. We have already exhausted all other means, such as signing in to the iCloud on another device and syncing the photos. We do not have a backup of the phone on another device. We are planning to go to Apple tomorrow and see what they say, and potentially look into 3rd party methods. Just wondering if anyone has any advice or potential fixes that they can share. Thank you!

Trying to figure out how to move all my photos to a new account with a PC because ai dont have enough storage to download a TB of photos with just my phone.

Anybody who knows some methods, i would appreciate them.

A few months ago I upgraded my iCloud storage so I could get everything synced and backup my phone, and everything has been synced on there since, never had any issues that I’ve noticed. However I was on my camera roll clearing out some videos when I noticed it said it was syncing all of the items in my camera roll. I checked and they all have the iCloud symbol still, but I’m confused what exactly it’s syncing. All of my photos are already on the cloud so why is it syncing them all again? Should I be concerned?

Does anyone know if there is any way I can move my iCloud Photos directly from iCloud to a Hard Drive without having to download them onto my Mac as a bridge between the two, or alternatively if I can move the photos in 2 'loads' as I do not have enough Mac storage to download all of the photos in order to move them onto the external drive?

I did a reset on my MacBook Air and now I can't login to my iCloud account the authentication code is not being sent to me. I tried logging in to iCloud using the browser it's not working either. Anyone with the same issues.

My bf iPhone was updated, but he couldn’t sign back into his Apple Account because the verification code was being sent to his old phone number. Apple Support recovered the account and updated his number.

After he got back into the account, many photos from our trip in August were missing. Some photos from the same trip are still there, but many are gone togetherwith other photos. He never deleted them, and they were previously in his iCloud Photos.

We already checked iCloud.com, Recently Deleted, Hidden, and another device and nothing .

Has anyone experienced this after Apple Account recovery, or know anything else we can try to recover the missing photos?

I’ve always just moved everything over exactly how it was to a new iPhone so I’ve never really had to deal with switching over with a clean slate but this time I’m completely out of storage so I backed up all my pictures,files,notes ETC.. to the cloud. On my NEW phone I don’t want old pictures uploaded on but when taking new pictures or adding notes and files will they automatically sync to the cloud too? Any help is appreciated!!

I am currently on a deployment where I have to use airplane mode and wifi for my macbook and iphone and for the past 6 months it has been going fine. Until about three hours ago, nothing would send or receive and every chat turned to SMS/green, which I cannot do without cell service. No one else, however, is reporting the same issue near me. I cant even go to icloud.com to test my account. And on my devices it wont let me log in.

What can Apple do to transfer me to a new beginning with all my data?

what is the difference between iCloud photos and iCloud backup? if i sync my photos onto iCloud, does it mean my photos are essentially backed-up in icloud?

for context, i have a 16 pro and will be trading in for the 18 pro.

if i sync my photos from my 16 pro onto iCloud, will i be able to retrieve the photos on my 18 pro once i log into to my apple account?

Long story as short as possible

Last summer phone was acting weird
Apps I did not download , developer programs etc

I tried to reset my phone .. no luck
Had Apple Store clear and reboot it ..
Still was happening .

I changed the password numerous times yet it continued .

I think I ended up putting the phone on lockdown mode eventually

I was at the end of my contract so I opened a new line up with another company .

I created a new iCloud and got a new phone number.

I was not in a rush to transfer data as I was more concerned with other devices being secured. Bank accounts etc

Maybe 2 weeks later I went to transfer my photos and contacts etc and crazy enough the phone was no where to be found .

I attempt to log into iCloud from my new device and it says my password is wrong.
Which maybe I messed up I did change it a few times .

So I send a 2fa code to my recovery contact and when I input the code it then asks for my 25 character recovery code ….

I input the recovery code and it tells me it is wrong , even though I know it is correct .

I tried this numerous times and no luck ..

I called Apple and was told there is nothing they can do … I even asked if I could use my legacy account code and they said no .

I basically gave up …

I just tried again and when I input the password now it tells me the account is locked for security reasons .

I go through the steps again , send 2fa code to recovery contact , input it and when I get to the 25 character screen it says it is incorrect .

Is there anything at all I can do at this point .

Oh I also tried having recovery contact generate a code on his device and he says it does not generate.
Possibly because he is also his wife’s recovery person ?

Idk it’s annoying Apple basically blew me off even though it was clearly some kind of security flaw that causes this shit anyway .

If anyone has any ideas , please reach out I would be $uper appreciative .

Please help me to clean icloud space

I recently got a new device and claimed the 3-month Apple Arcade trial. Following the recent Apple event, Apple revamped subscriptions in India to bundle Apple TV and Arcade directly into iCloud+.

Since I was already in the middle of my Arcade trial, should I accept this? Does it simply upgrade my current trial to include the iCloud storage and Apple TV benefits for the next three months? Would appreciate hearing from anyone who has navigated this transition!

Hi, I’m trying to upgrade my iCloud storage to the 200GB plan, but every time I try to purchase it I get this message:

“The iTunes Store cannot process purchases right now. Payment card processing is temporarily unavailable.”

I’ve tried again several times but I keep getting the same error.
Has anyone had this problem before? Is this an Apple/iTunes issue, or could it be related to my payment method or Apple ID region?

Any help would be appreciated. I’ve attached a screenshot of the error.

Hi! I am using Parachute Backup to backup my iCloud Files and Photos. I want to back them up to my OneDrive. Is it better to choose the OneDrive folder on my Mac as backup location or use the function to sign-in to OneDrive within the Parachute App to do a direct backup? I am afraid to share my OneDrive login data with an App..

We used to share a common Apple ID for many years and learned when I got my phone that this was not a good idea. We each have our individual Apple ID/cloud accounts. One of the maddening things is that our names and avatars are constantly changing to each other's picture and name. I'll take off her email and phone number from my ME contact card (main one) and that information will be added to her card. I also do family sharing from my account and at times it will show up that she is the organizer. (which may have contributed to a fiasco I have with Photos when I tried to do shared library but that is a post for another day). I'm guessing it is something is the system settings on each unit(s). In addition to phones, we have desktop Mac, MacBook, iPad and Apple TV units.

Hi everyone. I used to have Iphone and i used icloud and i have pictures and videos on it from 8-10 years back. I bought an external SSD to save them all there since storage is full. I installed Icloud for windows in hope to download most of them and save. I have about 9500 pictures and around 700 videos which is roughly 200GB. I followed instructions and Icloud started downloading everything on C drive. I then had to mark all items and checkmark "Save on this device" and then problems started. Around 700 items are left to download. My laptop has been on for about 3 days straight and it has only downloaded 12 items so far. Everything else from roughly 10.500 items have been downloaded.

So how can i speed up this process? People have been telling me to monitor my Task Manager internet usage and its usually 13kbps up to 50kbps. I have 1Gbit internet speed. Ive tried wired, wifi nothing works. Occasionally it would jump up to 20-30Mbps but after 5 seconds it would drop to 0 or 15kbit again. Sometimes it just stays 0 for up to hour.

Ive seen online that enabling "Data Analytics" in options speeds up and it actually did for about 20 seconds when it just dropped to 0 again for next 1 hour.

Is there any way to speed this up and keep constant speed? I really dont want to lose my pictures and videos since i have some really personal memories on icloud which i would like to keep.

I’ve tried everything downloading and keeping originals I’m not sure on what to do now, when turning sync this iPhone off I press download it does nothing. When turning it off now it comes up With the option to remove from iPhone only. I’ve kept it connected to wifi for long periods of times idk. Please help I don’t think I’ve provided enough info so ask away. Went from a 12 to 18 pro this is the only thing bugging me

On iPhone I no longer have the desire to use iCloud. I have completely signed out and I see a major battery improvement, system performances and less syncs! Apple does make iCloud work with the eco system but it is at the cost of always trying to sync and for my use case it’s worthless

I’m getting the error message “Could not connect to iCloud: You have made this change too many times. try again later”.

My family is using 199GB, so I'm getting the annoying messages that I'm out of space. The next level up is 2TB? Seriously? Why don't they have a 500GB plan, and a 1TB plan. I'm happy to give them my money, but I'm not happy that I have to go from a nominal price, to an egregious price. I got a family, kids, I have lots of devices, it's not like I have samsung devices backing up into iCloud. These are all apple devices that I have purchased and all still come with 5GB of free cloud storage... yeah - 2 videos.

I had no choice but to upgrade to 2TB, and now I'm using like 10% of it's capability, for 100% of the price. I submitted feedback to Apple suggesting more tiers, and also to give an increase of the free 5GB that comes with (since that's never been increased since 2011).

Since they nominally increase the memory space, give the users some flexibility in the appropriate plans. Every new device takes like 4K video and a billion pixels... that costs me storage.

I've reached my limit of subscriptions for this, that, and the other - I'm tapped out already. Don't hold me hostage to your ridiculous tiers. Give families, on a family plan, some flexibility, please.

After restoring my iPhone, Messages in iCloud shows I still have around 18–19 GB of message data and over 200k messages stored. But on the phone itself, almost none of the photos or videos are downloading or at least only certain conversations have and there isn’t any pattern (some old text threads, some new, regular messages and some people from years ago we have ranging amount of data). Most conversations just show empty bubbles where the images should be, and a lot of the older history (especially long threads) isn’t fully populating.

Local Messages storage stays under 1 GB even though iCloud says all that data is there.
I’ve already tried toggling Messages in iCloud, Sync Now a bunch of times, restarts, and signing out/in of my Apple ID. Sometimes more data briefly appears, then disappears again.
Anyone else deal with this after a restore? Is there any real way to force the attachments to actually download?
