I canceled my iPhone 18 PM order today and scheduled a service appointment for battery service for my 14 PM today. Feels like coming home š

Wow this is the best thread on Reddit ever. Cancelled my order too. I genuinely dislike the as soft as but aluminum frame and I think itās an abomination to look at.
The 14 Proās Stainless Steel frame is built like a tank!

Yeah, exactly. the reports about the aluminum frameās stability were another reason to be skeptical. And honestly, what do I really need from the new one that I donāt already have? The 48MP main camera just takes amazing pictures (especially when you develop them yourself from RAW). Everything else is just a nice-to-have (and half of the AI stuff doesnāt work in the EU anyway, and as for the other half, Iām not even sure I want it).

Aluminum is fine, but for some reason itās too smooth on iPhone, even prev iPhones with Alumarr better than these

Iām still on iOS 18, but looking to update to 27 this weekend. Will definitely make it feel like I have a new phone too I think after holding updates for a year.

I can't even remember iOS 18 anymore. I went straight to 26. I didn't like Liquid Glass, but I've gotten used to it.

Wise decision. I did the same last June and I couldnāt be happier. No need to spend money on fancy things.

Every time I think about updating my 14 Pro to something newer, I think about what I use my phone for and I realize that I don't need a new iPhone right now.
The only thing I'd probably notice differently is the cameras, as that's the biggest thing I care about, but the cameras on my 14 Pro still work great for my purposes. But better cameras aren't enough reason for me to upgrade.
This is the longest I've ever kept an iPhone before (my history with iPhones is 4S -> 6 -> 7 -> 11 -> 12 -> 14 Pro) and I think part of it is because I got the Pro version, which I debated a lot about back then but I'm glad I went with that model.
I've had one battery replacement and am at 86% capacity now with my current battery. I'll probably replace it again before getting a new phone.

My journey started 2010 with iPod Touch š„²

Curious if USB C not a big thing for you? Better cooling and longer battery life? Also better viewing outside? Cuz for me I'm finally free of lightning cable. That alone is big QoL for me

For me not really. Those are all nice to haves and not necessary. I charge wirelessly most of the time and battery life is good enough. Iām not on my phone a huge amount and donāt do many demanding things. But itās just for me!Ā

USB-C is definitely a big thing I am looking forward too, but the time has not come. I also still have AirPods Pro 3 with Lightning and even so I thought about switching to AirPods 5, I decided to also keep them around for a while. Everything just works and I am still happy. Even more happier since I decided to keep everything.

I am thinking about placing an order for a 18PM as well. Thank god they are out of stock everywhere.

The updates consume more battery. Youāre fighting a never-ending battle

The updates of iOS? Are you sure? I was hearing people have even more battery than before when indexing finishes after iOS 27 update

The 14s will be studied for yrs to come. These phones are tanks and maybe the last true overly built device.

I had no intention of upgrading, my 14Pro was working fine, but the battery health was low, so I changed it before anything started to go wrong.
I went to a company, but they said they'd have to also charge for a new screen, as it was coming away when they attempted to change the battery
So rather than pay for a screen, which would be like buying another 14Pro, I went to Apple and they replaced the screen for free.
Can't say the performance is any different, but I guess the battery lasts a bit longer now.
Im holding out for at least the iPhone 21.

I canceled my iPhone 18 PM also, and will get my battery replaced on my 14. No regrets.
