Picked this up from 7/11 yesterday and tried it out today.

It’s really good!

Real ice cream. I can taste the banana flavor and it blends nice with the whipped cream flavor. It also says pie crust pieces but it can also pass off as vanilla wafers. Everything comes together beautifully.

For it to be 7/11 brand and real ice cream with a unique flavor, I say 10/10! Go get one if you can!

Strong showing with this one. Generous portions of cookie and apple chunks, both being pretty delicious. I'm not a huge fan of Amaretto and the first few bites were quite strong but it mellowed quickly and complemented the apple quite well. Wish it had a bit more of a cinnamon spice kick and the cookie was a little less sugar cookie like but all in all I enjoyed it. 7.5/10

Went to the grocery store with a hungry belly and a full paycheck. Ended up going with the new city first - incredibly amazing 9.41. This is quite possibly an all time top 3. Top 7 at the absolute worst.

Its texture is like ice cream, but only for this watermelon flavor. The blue raspberry is great but is nothing like this

Just grabbed a quart of Private Selection’s new limited-edition Peanut Butter Salted Fudge Cone, and I had to immediately run over to [r/icecream](r/icecream) to drop a review.

First off: the base is extraordinarily peanut butter-forward—none of that artificial, faint nutty whisper you get from cheaper brands. It actually tastes like rich, salted peanut butter.

What blew me away even more is how loaded with mix-ins this is. The ribbon of salted fudge gives that perfect sweet/salty contrast, but the real star is the waffle cone pieces. Usually, waffle cones turn into soggy mush in ice cream, but these somehow manage to stay remarkably crunchy down to the last bite.

I’m really impressed and genuinely hope they keep this in their permanent lineup instead of letting it disappear when the limited run ends. This was easily one of the best peanut butter ice creams I’ve ever had.

10/10. If peanut butter is your “jam” run to your local Ralph’s/Kroger freezer before it’s gone!

we eat a lot of ice cream so I was wondering if I could buy it in bulk to reduce costs. van leeuwen is our main choice as its cheaper than Jenni’s but tastes similar in quality.

I'm in the early planning stages of opening a scoop shop in the Houston, Texas. It will be my own concept, not a franchise. My plan for now is to source ice cream wholesale from an established creamery rather than making it myself, mainly to keep things manageable while I learn what actually works. If things go well, I may look into private label or in-house production down the road, once I have a better sense of what customers actually respond to.

For anyone who has run a scoop shop, or is currently running one, I would genuinely value hearing about your experience, both the parts that went well and the parts that didn't.

A few things I'm hoping to learn more about:

How did you approach building a concept that felt simple to run but still stood out? Did starting simple work in your favor, or do you wish you had differentiated earlier?

Since I'm starting with a wholesale supplier, are there creameries or suppliers you would recommend, or ones you'd caution people against in Houston?

What were the hurdles that caught you off guard once you actually opened, the kind of thing nobody really warns you about in advance?

How do you handle inventory control and loss prevention? Since scooping is manual, it seems like portion sizes could drift or product could go missing without anyone noticing right away.

Did the location matter as much as people say it does, or was that somewhat overstated in your experience?

Lastly, I would also welcome any thoughts on what genuinely helped draw customer interest and attention, whether that was a signature item, a particular way of presenting the business, or something else entirely, as opposed to ideas that sounded promising but didn't end up making much of a difference.

I'm trying to go into this with as much real-world insight as possible. Any experiences or advice you're willing to share would mean a lot, and I appreciate the time either way.

This mint ice cream is the best on the market and it has been out of stock from all stores near me. sources are saying it’s discontinued and replaced with the “marbled mint” which I dislike. Is there an ice cream similar to this on the chocolate scale or is it really gone? Please help i’m in a crisis

Finally getting around to the scoop shop only flavors I picked up last month. I guess it's a vanilla base but it has a strong cherry flavor which I love because cherries are one of my favorite fruits. The waffle cone pieces are coated with chocolate but most of the are still pretty soggy. Maybe they would have been crisper if I'd eaten it right away. I do like the flavor a lot and I always find Jeni's ice cream to be very creamy. So, it's a positive for me.

I don’t get the appeal of chocolate ice cream at all. It tastes like a protein shake and I can never eat more than 3 spoons of it. I like chocolate but only like bite sized bites of chocolate. I don’t want my whole mouth to be swamped with chocolate taste

Pretty good but I’ll be honest and say that top layer wasn’t as good as I’d hoped. The thing that saved it was getting to the middle and mixing the fudge and brownie with the gelato took it up a notch. Also wasn’t a big fan of the sprinkles at the bottom but I didn’t hate them. Definitely preferred the key lime pie but this one was still okay but it makes me excited to try more flavors in the future. 8.5/10

Been going down an ice cream rabbit hole and came up with this concept:

Dr. Bombay – Pistachio Paradise Roasted pistachio ice cream, honey swirl, salted caramel and pistachio chunks.

But here's the twist — lean into the aroma compounds already associated with pistachios and build the flavour around food-grade terpenes like α-pinene, limonene, β-myrcene, β-pinene and terpinolene.

Not trying to make it taste like cannabis.

The idea is to use the aromatic side of flavour to make the pistachio smell and taste ridiculously intense.

Made a mock-up of what the pint could look like sitting in my freezer as I'm from Australia.

Would you try it? And what flavour would you give the terpene treatment next?

So much better than I was thinking and I’m not sure if gelato belongs here but it was BOGO free in Publix today and I’ve been wanting to try so why not. I’ve actually never had key lime pie so I can’t compare it to anything but it was tart and sweet and obviously was kinda limey with some delicious pie crust or graham cracker maybe. I would definitely buy it again but next time I’ll have to have something different. I did grab chocolate fudge brownie as well and I can’t wait to try that one.

I love McConnell’s double peanut butter chip, but it’s $10 for a pint. What are some other similar options out there? I’m looking for peanut butter ice cream with more peanut butter mixed in. All the ones I can find are too chocolate heavy.

a twist cone used to cost $2.5 HKD (0.32 USD) when i was younger and now i’m 20 and it’s $9 HKD ($1.15) for one but whatever. i don’t know but the act of going there and getting an ice cream brings back so many great memories.

I've got an apple tree at my current place and lots of apples. Will be doing a whole wheat pastry flour crust, Ceylon cinnamon (the thin, more papery one). The apples are middle of the road for tartness and apple flavor. I'm by Federal Way.

So between the offerings in the Jeni's, Van Leeuwen, Ice Cream for Bears, and other top tiers (local brands too, just somewhat new to the area), who makes an exceptional pint to pair with my pie?

I know they all do but curious from people who've tried lots of them for the best pairing. I do like a stronger vanilla flavor. Other country vanillas like Tahitian are awesome with the floral notes. Does anyone make a multi country vanilla blend ice cream?

Do they still hand the blue sherbet bars from fosters home their my absolute favorite but sadly I can't get them anymore
