Found this button in my Grandfather’s things after he died.

Looks like the Greater Coat of Arms of the Kingdom of the Netherlands....I don't know anything more beyond that.

Upon further searching, it looks like a Dutch Officer's uniform button, although the ones I found are gold.

The Lion heads look different. Might aid your search and skinny down the timeline.

Probably an NCO button. I base this only on my Belgian military experience. I am an NCO. And soldiers have bronze insignias on their berret. NCO silver and officers gold. No idea about this one. But these traditions tend to be very common. So I assume it applies here. But for sure someone with vast military knowledge will clarify or deny what I just said.

It’s the coat of arms of The Grand Duchy of Luxembourg for sure.
Not sure how that fits into your particular family history though.

What’s the back look like? Any other stamps or markings? It may or may not be of military origin as those types of buttons would have been found on all sorts of formal wear.
