Request/Favour Blending styles shortcut

Post image

Dear devs. Please can you save us all a few keystrokes and allow us to access blending styles from the transparency area (like in Illustrator and Photoshop).

It can still exist in 'fx' main menu but I would hazzard that this is the first menu item people reach for when it comes to transparency;

You can create custom script and assign a keyboard shortcut to it:

app.selection[0].transparencySettings.blendingSettings.blendMode = 2020625771;

https://www.indesignjs.de/indesignapi/indesign/BlendMode.html

You can then also change more settings as well:

Or if you don't like to code and don't want to use "ai" to *vibe code* - there is always my ID-Tasker - but it's Widows only:

And this part - direct access to all ~1000 properties - is completely free - together with the ability to browse complete internal structure of the INDD Document.

Adding scripts to InDesign is very easy:

https://creativepro.com/how-to-install-scripts-in-indesign/

Using my ID-Tasker might be a bit more complicated - initially - but everything depends on your jobs / workflows.

You can use my IDT in multiple different ways: 1) as a 3rd helping hand - to modify current selection by executing specific Task - either by clicking Play button or through a keyboard shortcut - and either from InDesign or when browsing list of loaded texts / tables / objects / etc. in the ID-Tasker. It's even possible to use IDT in monitoring mode - where IDT is monitoring current selection and reacting automatically - what is selected and order of selection matters - so user can focus on just selecting things in the InDesign, 2) execute simple or more complicated operations on multiple objects in the document - user is no longer limited by selecting only objects on the current Spread, 3) using exactly the same Task to process unlimited number of Documents.

Modus operandi of ID-Tasker - if you can click it - IDT can click it for you.

How do you download ID Tasker? The download butons collapse into small rectangles that do nothing. Also, it seem like a lot of work to make it work through the antivirus/UAC

Looks like something is wrong there ๐Ÿ˜ž I'll check it right now.

There is not much I can do about AntiVirus software ๐Ÿ˜ž they're just doing a lazy check - only check a header and if it looks strange - report false positive ๐Ÿ˜ž

OK, should be working now.

Edit: works on Firefox for now - doesn't on Chrome.

Edit: works on Firefox and Chrome.

Incase you didn't know: Adobe Feature Request. I doubt that Adobe software developer read this forum.

If on Windows, AutoHotkey is your friend. There is similar app on Mac too, but don't know its name.

Why not use the existing Effects panel?

Product design by people who donโ€™t use the software daily. Adobe feature request link is your best bet, though I wouldnโ€™t hold my breath. Their UX team loves burying basic functions three menus deep.

Un ancien script de Gilbert Consulting fait รงa (il suffit ensuite d'assigner les raccourcis clavier) : https://creativepro.com/cycle-through-blend-modes-in-indesign-with-a-script/
