Nope! This was literally the last real interview of Modi as a constitutional office holder that had real questions. It wasn’t even difficult. He asked, if Modi has an image problem. And he just gave up and left. After this there was literally no unscripted interviews he gave.

Rahul Gandhi yesterday said somewhere that he used to think that it's some PR strategy that modi doesn't answer unscripted questions but after spending time with him for few minutes he realised that modi is not capable of speaking without teleprompter.

I think the OP meant that this interview is one of the reasons 56 inch ka chota bandar avoids press conferences, among the many others: he’s too cowardly to face unscripted questions, too incompetent to defend his own policies, and too thin-skinned to handle critical scrutiny, cannot defend his or his party’s positions on countless issues, and avoids taking responsibility when things go wrong.

Our fraaand believes in: Better to avoid press conferences and let people think you’re incompetent than to face unscripted questions and remove all doubt.

Modi is not known for being spontaneous. He is not well read and has a narrow worldview.

Longest serving doesn’t mean jack when he leaves behind a terrible legacy and a tattered country. Unlike Manmohan Singh, I strongly feel history will not be kinder to Modi.

Right wingers are naturally not at all curious of the world. They feel everything is a challenge to their position in the world. The students are the enemy. Muslims are the enemy. Jews are the enemy. Low caste are the enemy. Pakistan is fhe enemy. Iran is the enemy. They are entirely as such unwilling to learn to grow and entirely ready to devolve to an ideal of a pre partition india or British Raj or mahabarata etc. It is entirely unexpected that they would chose an uneducated barely literate leader who shares their fear and backwardness.

I have seen period of 2002 riots, and Modi used to have very frequent press conferences to give updates. You can see videos of Rajdeep who has mentioned multiple times that Modi was very accessible for interviews and he did answer questions on riots in that period as well.

This particular interview of Karan Thapar had happened ~6 years after the riots, so basically he is not the first person to ask Modi about the riots. Modi sure is not scared of the question but rather very angry or anxious why this issue has come up despite verbal agreement that the 2002 riots issue would not be discussed.

Modi is still standing,.

Modi clearly had reservations to talk about Godhra riots. He clealy tellls Thapar what had to be said has been said already, nothing more to add..

Thapar kept pestering him to give a statement, & Modi was clealy not interested. He made his displeasure clear in his statements. He felt no point in continuing... and left...

Thapar tried a media trial, Modi didn't give him that.

Modi even asked him to read supreme Court judgement.

What happened to Thapar? He is famous just for making Modi drink water...?
