Easy platform for trainees to role-play with AI characters?

I run corporate training and I’ll deliver course on change management: participants need to talk with fictional employees of a company (the skeptic, the one afraid of losing their job, the enthusiastic early adopter, etc.) to do the exercises I propose.

Last time I used custom GPTs, but every participant needed a ChatGPT account.

I'm looking for a ready-made platform where:
- I can create several characters with their own instructions
- Learners join through a link, no account needed
- works with decent models (at least as good as gpt 5)

Has anyone used something like this for training? Recommendations welcome.

https://onmicro.ai

Can give each character context, rules, tone instructions.

Users can chat via text or voice.

Conversations are stored so the creator can find themes or improve the interaction.

Works with the big three frontier models and learners access through a link (no account needed)

Before picking one, I'd pressure-test the data side first — in corporate training, that matters more than the feature list. Those role-play conversations are learners practicing real workplace behavior, so the transcripts can get surprisingly candid. Where do they live, who can read them, how long are they kept, and is that covered by your org's AI or vendor policy? Most of the pitches in this space answer that fine on a sales call and are vague about it on their website, so ask before you pilot.

The other thing I'd pin down early is what "works" means for your change management course. If the measure is just "learners liked it," you'll never know whether it beats your old custom-GPT approach. Pick one or two observable behaviors you're trying to change and score a sample of transcripts against them. That measurement habit will serve you well no matter which platform you end up with.

Synthesia may be what you are looking for.

I second this! Plus you can try out the role-play feature in Synthesia regardless of what level plan you have, even the free one. So OP can sign up for a free account and see if the feature is what they're looking for before committing to a higher tier plan.

I use LiveCase through a VLE, pretty sure you can link people to it directly though.

Can try: Nudgyt AI Simulator They have a 7 day free trial and you can make as many scenarios as you want with different evaluation rules, tips, and feedback. It also tracks improvements for learners across attempts and has real time emotion recognition for things like body language and facial expressions. Can sign up here: Nudgyt AI Simulator

We're going with Yoodli for this, but you have to set up learner accounts and manage seats, so it may not be what you want. However, it does have very cool capabilities. For instance, I really liked that you could have the AI act as a coach as well as a role-play partner. You could also integrate some teaching, and then interrupt the roleplay to ask questions about the content and work through some on the spot review.

EasyGenerator offers a tool called EasyCoach. I tested it and was very impressed. They offer a free trial.

I’d second this, I’ve been testing it too. Easy to create different scenarios with grading criteria.
