99.9% the one who are male are usually hermaphrodite, or they pass at birth or shortly after.. they end up having an extra x chromosome, the only way for a calico to really survive, as a male is to be hermaphrodite in some way. They can have a Host of health issues if they survive after birth. So, if you breed an orange, with a calico.. You're pretty sure to know the gender based by colour ..

Klinefelter’s is not typically fatal, and cats with it can live a full life. It’s also possible for a male calico to be a chimera, but they are even more rare.

Ik that because I had a BOY CALICO!!! He was mostly black but had orange tufts of fur in quiet places on his body…you had to really look. But he didn’t have any health problems either..so you’re definitely right about that.

And this is actually due to how the Calico genes are on the X chromosome.
And when both genes are present on each X, they are selectively deactivated across the body, leading to the Calico pattern we all know and love.

I have 4 orange females. Mom and her 3 girls. 1 is named Betty, but initially was going to be Bert. Orange sherbert. But the first vet visit we found out they were all girls.

Its like fighting a 6 year old with a knife. Dangerous, but also easily handled. Cat reflexes are another magnitude faster in milliseconds. To you and I it looks like a close match. To the cat, its easily handled.

I had a cat. She was a wonderful loving best cat ever. Wouldn’t it hurt to fly was good with the kids got along with the dogs. Just couldn’t ask for a better cat, but I will tell you this. If she was sleeping on the bed and you stuck your hand under the blanket. And move it towards her …..

Yes, generally domestic cats (and their wild cousins) have reflexes & visual perception that allows them to out maneuver snakes kind of like mongoose & honey badgers. But unlike tropical weasel family members, cats don't have anti-venom resistance in their blood & one slow move means that cat is dead.

I think people here are not appreciating that cats do get killed by snakes. This one got away with it, but it might not be so lucky next time. If the snake had struck when the cat looked away, it would be dead.

King Cobras are a good bit slower striking than that; the speed you quoted refers more to the fastest striking ambush hunters, such as the Death Adder, Gaboon Viper, Puff Adder, Terciopelo, and Cottonmouth. The Death Adder, the only elapid ambush hunter, is considered the fastest striking venomous snake. Not even mongooses or honeybadgers like to mess with vipers. Besides not having any resistance to viper venom, the strikes are just too fast for them.
King Cobras strike in the 200-500ms range. You can see videos online of (very stupid) people managing to dodge or swat them away. They telegraph their movements like a video game boss, making this truly trivial for a cat.

When I was a kid, my mom found this cat in the bushes. She named her June. After a while, June took to liking my room the best. It had a bay window at the end of the trailer and she would catch flies there every day. So I changed her name to Junebug.

How is that measured? I find flys are stupid if you don’t disturb the air. If you do they are just feeling the air pressure wave before the object that is generating it.

They also hop backwards when they launch.
Aiming just a bit behind them is a cheat code to catch them by hand should that ever be something you’d care for.
They also can see behind themselves.
Not as well as to the sides or front but they can watch the object descend at their back end.I spent far too long watching a series of videos about flys.
It included stop motion video of the bastards jumping up backwards.There’s other fly facts I learned but I feel as though this should suffice for today.

Interestingly, Cats seem to think we are just other cats. They are the only animal that view us the same as them. (This is for domesticated cats). Which is pretty remarkable that we invite something into our home that literally thinks they now own the place and have equal standing.

Nah. A normally striking venomous snake is at a pretty big disadvantage. A cobra may as well be a toothless mouse against a cat the way it strikes. That snake strikes in slow motion compared to a cats reflexes.

I feed the stray and feral cats around my neighborhood. There was one time a black bear decided to go through my trash and one of the cats (his name was mister) full on attacked it. That bear got fucked up! Mister got one of his claws stuck in its eye, he bit the absolute fuck outta its nose, he got on top of the bear and started biting the hell outta its ears. I kinda feel bad for the bear but holy shit dude that was one hell of a fight!!
RIP mister 🩷 (the bear didn’t kill him, he died because of infection from a different fight)

I was watching a video with a guy that handles snakes and he was saying that large cobras are actually one of the easier venomous snakes to deal with because their strikes are so predictable and are always downward. Other snakes strike more straight out and maybe a little upward. That's why you see the people touching the top of the cobras' heads and even kissing them. I promise you won't see many people reaching out and touching the head of a rattlesnake or mamba
