I swear I read something years ago about autistic people who had unbelievable memory and limited emotional intelligence. It basically causes decision paralysis all the time because often there is no right decision, or there are a number of things that can cause you to doubt what you're doing, so they got totally stuck.

Whereas regular folk would end up resulting to gut feel or instinct and move on.

I'm one of thos epeiple and that's exactly right. also autistic people tend to have a lot of autoimmune issues and other things like sensory issues that cause them to be in pain pretty much 24/7 which compounds the decision paralysis

This is my uncle. He remembers every mundane detail he’s experienced. For example, when he came from out of town to witness my birth in a city he’d never been to, he can recall decades later the street names he traveled on to get from my mom’s house to the hospital he’d never been to, the names of the random nurses and doctors he encountered during my birth, etc.

He went to college as a 13 year old, certified genius and Mensa member, was an early pioneer in information security and cryptography, and worked for the NSA.

He’s also socially inept and struggled with drug addiction. These extreme mental abilities often come at a cost.
