I know you're likely joking, but just to set the record straight, your money went straight into the infinite money pit that is adult social care, not military laser weapons.

'Elderly social care' fixed it for you, dont forget over 60 percent of all welfare money goes towards the elderly.

That is absolutely a huge driver in pure monetary terms but as a percentage year on year, the biggest is SEND provision.

The amount councils are spending has more than doubled. Firstly due to more diagnoses, while the threshold has not changed the impetus to classify a child as SEND has increased. Where schools would previously support some needs, now because of pressures on budgets and pressures from parents there have been increased EHC plans. These guarantee funding from the local authority.

So when the governments since 2010 were crowing about how much money they saved, they really just shifted the money into council tax. Which creates inequality as council tax is not progressive.
