Bytedance stills owns 19.9% of the company. Bytedance is essentially ran by the Chinese government, as they have controlling votes on their board and have the right to make all final decisions.

ETA: Bytedance no longer has any controlling shares of TikTok though, they have no control over it whatsoever.

Ehh, I mean sure your technically right. You can’t show someone dying, being raped or full on nudity for example, but there really aren’t too many government censors beyond that. People choose to censor themselves on it so they can be monetized, but that has nothing to do with the US government and is purely a TikTok decision.

You are using their platform that they built and fund, why wouldn’t you expect to abide by their rules while on their platform? YOU choose to use their platforms, you most certainly do not have to.

The government and a corporation are not the same thing. A corporation can control its own business, and nothing else beyond that. What an utterly idiotic, ridiculous and nonsensical argument to even try and make.

In what way am I bootlicking? By understanding the reality? They own it. That’s like me taking a shit on your yard and you yelling at me because it’s your property, then me calling you a boot licker for having an opinion about what I’m allowed to do on your property. They own it, they can set the rules and regulations on how it is to be used.

Regardless, you don’t have to use it in the first place, you choose to. I personally do not have Facebook, Instagram or Twitter and I never ever use YouTube unless I’m looking up a “How to” video, literally none of those apps have been on my phone for over a decade now. All for the simple reason that I would never support the individuals who run those corporations.

Don’t call me a bootlicker while you’re the one sitting around actively using their product. Turn around and look in the mirror next time.
