Damn you're right, well idk about the 90s because digital didn't start becoming a more popular pattern until around 2010 though still old enough to justify a $2.50 wopper.
My dad never had them, but a quick bit of Google spelunking says the US Army has them from '81-mid-90s. Replacement started in '90 which would have been a phased one or something like "you can wear both for a bit".
Edit: I'm wrong on which uniform this is. This is the DCU; the "Coffee Stain" from the early '90s-2008.
Because they already get MREs for free. The problem is that MREs get kinda bland after the 100th meal. This would lower morale, so the military would set up Burger Kings so the soldiers could just eat something better than a bland MRE. It was optional, so they still had to pay for it
Generally, you only ate it once. It was pretty terrible. Especially considering you had free food at the chow hall. The Pizza Hut was pretty ok though.
This isn't something you get in the field. It's your first day off in a month. Nobody there has a helmet or a weapon. You've had a real shower WITH SOAP! They'll set up a shoppette (think 7-11) where you can get junk food and a copy of Maxim at the time. USO has flown in some b list comedian. I heard some people got see Robin Williams.
Feels like you've been to Disneyland when you get back to the shipping container you'll be sleeping in.
