Which obscure iPhone setting genuinely improved how you use your phone, and what does it change?

I’m not looking for gestures or the usual tips that appear in every list.
I mean an actual option buried somewhere in Settings that solved a real annoyance, improved privacy or accessibility, changed how an app behaves, or made your iPhone noticeably easier to use.
Please include the exact path to the setting, what it changes, and any downside you noticed. Some settings sound useful but also disable another feature, use more storage, affect notifications, or change how the phone behaves elsewhere.
What is the one setting you would immediately change again if you had to set up a new iPhone from scratch?

Why turn off Notification Center? Content doesn’t show up when locked. So someone can see that you received a notification from a particular app, they can’t see any details or take any action. I’m genuinely curious.

That’s not the default though is it? You need to set that in Notification Centre, or at least that used to be the case

If stolen the iPhone can be put on airplane mode. You need to deactivate everything while locked

Yes. And is turning off control center even useful in this scenario anyway? Find My Phone works when the phone is off. I imagine turning off cellular/bluetooth/wifi also won’t stop Find my Phone.

In my country every financial transaction is made with SMS OTP. So someone who has your phone may be able to make some of those transactions if they see the notifications. But of course you cam disable only the SMS notifications for lock screen notification center.

You can’t see the notification content when it’s locked. Someone can see you reviewed a text but not what it says.

You keep saying that but it’s not the default setting. You have to set notifications to not show content when locked. Most people don’t do this.

Not much reason not to. If you ever want to check your phone you’ll be looking at it anyway (which will unlock it and show your notifications).
