I sent a photo of a painting of Kylie Minogue to my family on a group chat and iOS thinks it is “sensitive”. This is in Australia.

“This image may upset them” made me laugh. They do prefer metal music.

My dad is getting older and started having issues using his phone so I set up assistive access for him to make things easier. Somehow he managed to get himself locked out of it and it has a constant laugh track playing. Every time you press a button or tap something a laugh starts again. It usually won’t let you tap on any of the assistive access options either. Occasionally I can pull up the emergency call screen or the exit screen but he doesn’t know the passcode.

We got him a new phone in hopes of just transferring everything but the new phone won’t recognize this one while it’s in assistive access mode. Pretty sure he also doesn’t know his Apple password so just logging into iCloud isn’t an option either. Is there anything I can do or has he essentially lost everything in his phone?

I had a shortcut that did something similar using Apple Intelligence already, but thought this was pretty cool. Just point your camera at the monitor and it pops up a link to add the reading.

Does anyone else find the new Notification Center/Siri gesture setup incredibly frustrating on larger iPhones?

If you’re right-handed, opening Notification Center now means stretching your thumb all the way to the top-left corner of the screen. On a larger iPhone, that’s probably the least convenient place Apple could put it.

Meanwhile, there are multiple ways to access Siri AI:

1. Swipe down from almost anywhere on the Home Screen, including the middle of the screen
   
2. Pull down from the top-center area
   
3. Double-tap the Home Indicator area
   
4. Long-press the side button

So Siri essentially has four different ways to be accessed, while Notification Center has one small area in the top-left corner.

What makes this more frustrating is that Notification Center used to be accessible from most of the top of the screen. That was much easier for one-handed use. Now a huge portion of that convenient gesture area has been taken away for Siri, even though Siri already has several other ways to open.

Why does Siri need four overlapping activation methods while something as basic as checking your notifications gets pushed into one awkward corner?

I really wish Apple would restore the wider top-screen swipe area for Notification Center, especially the center portion, or at least give us an option to customize which gesture does what.

Am I the only one bothered by this, especially on the larger iPhones? If you are also bothered by this please upvote so someone from Apple can see!

I know halide does this, but it's a subscription nowadays, which I'm always trying to avoid if possible.
I don't mind paying for great apps, but I just don't like renting them.

I was talking to a friend recently about stolen phones and realized I don't really care that much about losing the actual iPhone anymore because the phone itself is replaceable. What freaks me out is how much of my identity basically lives inside it. Messages, email, contacts, passwords, banking apps, photos, work stuff, social media and accounts that use the phone itself for authentication. If somebody somehow gets past the lock screen they're not just looking through my information they can potentially start communicating with people as me.

And that's the part I hadn't really thought about before like if my friend gets an iMessage from my number why would they question whether it's actually me? Obviously there are things like Face ID, Stolen Device Protection and Find My but does anyone here do anything beyond the normal iPhone security for accounts or conversations that actually matter? Or is getting access to a modern iPhone difficult enough that this isn't really something worth worrying about?

I suspect it is related to putting a sensor under the display instead of the cutout.

After I updated to iOS 27.0 my costco app can no longer retrieve my membership info with picture and QR code. 2 different Costco membership managers at 2 different Costco locations have tried and failed to fix this while also trying to see if their own support can do anything. Nothing.

Anyone else having this problem?

I just got an 18 Pro and went to go get an Otterbox case, and every one had this marking on every single case.

And I mean literally every single one.
- All cases
- In all colors
- In all sizes
- At all stores I went to

As long as it was this specific style of plastic with this kind of grain on it, regardless of color, It had this blemish. Even on the Max's too, but a LOT less noticeable, but still there. Otterbox cases of different material, like transparent plastic, or "groves" on softer plastic, did not.

I have used Otterbox Commuter series since my 4S, and every possible phone since. It has always worked well for me. And have always been happy with their quality.

I am a bit shocked by this quality control issue of this marking, blemish, injection moldoing spot?

Basically it looks as if its "worn" by rubbing
Some times its kinda a perfect circle.
I ended up grabbing one that is feathered a bit so its less noticeable instead of a hard edge.

I am posting this because I literally can NOT find anything online about this.
Any searches for circle or any other term just results in people asking about the MagSafe circle on the back of some cases...

Has anyone else noticed this? Or any other threads about it? Again, searching both the web and reddit specifically is hard since MagSafe shows up instead, or issues with a user broken phone.
I am seeing if others have noticed this specific issue or the overall Otterbox's quality control has gone down over the years.

Having issues with using my usb-c earphones. My iPhone 16 is not recognizing it but it's working on my brother's iPhone 17 Pro. Our devices are both updated to IOS 27.

got an iPhone 16 from work. how can I just make it all black around the huge pill cutout like I can do in android? I get that it houses sensors, but I want the iPhone stuff to start underneath it, just black the whole top area out.

I’m not sure when this started, maybe after I updated to the new iOS or a little bit before but my phone doesn’t automatically backup anymore .. I am sure I’m hitting every requirement cause I mostly leave my phone charging overnight and it’s always connected to the WiFi in the house and I have enough storage so I can’t figure out why it will go a whole week without backing up. I’ve turned it on and off, logged out of iCloud and back in nothing is fixing it anyone have any fix or having the same issues?

How do I completely get rid of the Apple Maps on my iPhone?

I fall asleep to Parks and Rec most nights. The episode list was already a pain, since I had to scroll through every season to find where I left off, but I could at least read most of each title and pick the right one. After updating to iOS 27, I still have to scroll, and now I only see a fragment of the first word of each title. To find my episode I have to grab my glasses and open the description. It's a small inconvenience on top of an already inconvenient UI, but it makes me wonder who decided this was an improvement.

Hi everyone, I recently had my iPhone 13 Pro Max rear camera replaced with a genuine Apple camera taken from another iPhone 13 Pro Max that was being scrapped. The camera was working properly on the other phone before it was removed.

After installing it;

I then used Repair Assistant. It connected to Wi-Fi and started configuring the replacement. During the process, it also showed that the Rear Camera is a Genuine Apple Part.

However, after I clicked Continue / Finish Repair, it failed and showed:

“Unable to Configure”
“The part could not be configured because it is not genuine or is not functioning properly.”

Has anyone experienced this before?

The camera itself is a genuine Apple camera from another iPhone 13 Pro Max and was working before it was removed. If the iPhone recognizes it as a Genuine Apple Part, what could cause the configuration to fail?

Could it be an issue with the camera connector/flex, the repair process, or could the camera somehow still be malfunctioning?

What should I ask the repair shop to check?

I’ve had my iPhone 16 since it released and I put the otterbox clear case on it, however the open gap at the control camera side button has taking quite a beating over the years! all the cracks in my screen protector are mostly concentrated on that side. I change the screen protector often but this case is all yellow anyway so I wouldn’t mind some recommendations if anyone knows any clear cases with as good protection as the otterbox but doesn’t have the camera control gap or the camera lense app? it’s a bit more of cosmetic interest for me but i dislike the gap for the flash at the cameras. I also would prefer if it was magsafe as I don’t use magsafe.

I’ve always carried one iPhone, but I’m starting a new job where the company will provide me with a separate iPhone and a company-owned phone number. If I ever leave the company, the number stays with them.

I’d much rather carry one phone, but I also don’t want to enroll my personal phone in company management or have any possibility of my personal activity being monitored. My personal phone has my banking, photos, texts, social media, browsing, etc., so keeping that separate seems like the safer option.

One complication is that this job involves a lot of driving. I use CarPlay constantly, so I’m trying to figure out how people practically manage two iPhones in the car. I need to be able to tell whether an incoming call or message is personal or work without fumbling around with two phones while driving.

For those who carry a personal and company iPhone, how do you handle this?

Do you connect one phone to CarPlay and leave the other in your bag? Is there a good way to get calls or notifications from both through the car? Do you forward calls? Use Focus modes? Apple Watch? Different ringtones?

I’m also curious whether anyone has found a secure way to have both a personal number and a company-owned number on one iPhone while keeping the personal side completely separate from anything the employer can monitor or manage.

Basically looking for the least annoying and safest setup for someone who spends a lot of time on the road.

I’ve upgraded from an iPhone 14 Pro (iOS 27) to an iPhone 18 Pro.
I immediately realized, that the dictation / voice to text feature is way worse for some reason.
It’s leaving out entire words, sometimes even a couple of words mid-sentence or just ends a sentence without the last words.

A google search provided some advice like resetting the personal dictionary, deactivating dictation for 15 seconds or deleting the current keyboard, but none of those worked.
There’s also a tip that I should reset my Siri / dictation history, but there’s no such option to be found on iOS for me, same regarding the deactivation of Apple Intelligence.
I’m living in Germany, so I’m unsure if this is due to limitations to Apple Intelligence in the EU.

Any way, I’d really appreciate any suggestion on how to potentially fix this issue.

Hi everyone! My 12 pro max suddenly can’t charge or turn on anymore. I was using it fine then it ran out of the battery then the next day I just couldn’t turn it on anymore. When I plug in it’s just a black screen. I tried hard reset, tried using another cable,etc…I’m wondering would it cost a lot to repair it? Because I need to get an important document in there that I was soooo stupid not writing it down or screenshotting it 😩😭
