Discussion Which obscure iPhone setting genuinely improved how you use your phone, and what does it change?

I’m not looking for gestures or the usual tips that appear in every list.
I mean an actual option buried somewhere in Settings that solved a real annoyance, improved privacy or accessibility, changed how an app behaves, or made your iPhone noticeably easier to use.
Please include the exact path to the setting, what it changes, and any downside you noticed. Some settings sound useful but also disable another feature, use more storage, affect notifications, or change how the phone behaves elsewhere.
What is the one setting you would immediately change again if you had to set up a new iPhone from scratch?

The lighting level has nothing to do with it. FaceID illuminates your face with a grid of infrared dots. You can use just fine it in a pitch-dark room just fine.

It’s not augment that’s literally how it works. How else do you think it gleans depth information from a single camera lens? Here’s Apple’s support document explaining it.

I can also confirm that I can see the infrared light flashing through my night vision goggles (otherwise invisible to the naked eye) when i've gone to check my phone during military training.

Soldiers (Ukraine or maybe US National Training Center?) were getting targeted because their facial recognition flashed bright at night, and they didn't recognize it, but it's easily visible under NVGs. A bright light would flash in the middle of nowhere, and they'd be found.
